  • Get hands-on on a small working organic farm
  • Just under 10 miles from the Cardigan Bay coastline
  • Top spot for stargazing
Get your wellies out – you’re heading for the farm. Treberfedd Farm is a small working organic farm in the Ceredigion region of west Wales. It’s a 10-minute drive from the nearby village of Ystrad Aeron and its bars and restaurants. Less than 10 miles from the coast of Cardigan Bay, Treberfedd Farm is well placed for coastal walking tours, boat trips and beach days. You can also learn more about the Welsh countryside’s rich history with a trip to the nearby Dolaucothi Gold Mines, 30 minutes from the farm. But don’t feel like you have to leave the green, green grass of your temporary home either. Guests at Treberfedd are encouraged to explore the farm, with farm and woodland trails marked throughout the site. Birdwatchers will want to keep a feather eye out for red kites, barn owls and a whole host of songbirds. Guided farm walks give you an opportunity to get a little more hands on as you meet the farm animals and help to gather eggs laid by the free-range chickens. During the day the kids can run wild at the on-site playground, but when night falls it's time for a more sedate experience. Treberfedd is a top spot for gazing at the night sky, so put out a blanket and look to the stars.

Unpowered grass tent site

Liked: This is probably one of the best sites we’ve stayed on. We had a massive pitch with a beautifully clean toilet/shower block close by that we only shared with another couple. There was an amazing play park with a great big ship that our kids really enjoyed along with a fantastic games barn. We did bail a night early due to the weather but we loved this place and it’s secluded, rural location.

Unpowered grass tent site

Liked: Nice and quiet. There is a games barn and a pizza oven for rent. A great play area for 3-12 year olds. Lovely organic eggs in the honesty box. Good walking trail and the site is very clean.

Disliked: The washing up water was extremely hot with no warning and the cold tap didn't work.

Unpowered grass tent site

Liked: Fantastic site, beautiful surroundings. Helpful and friendly staff. Although my children are really young they were able to roam and play alone which gave them some great freedom as its a small site. Apple picking, making fresh juice and fresh pizzas on the last day was such a lovely and unexpected bonus. We were also very lucky to have a clear night and the stars were incredible. Would highly recommend and stay again.

Disliked: Only comment would be that the games room could do with updating and the sand pit clearing of debry like leaves etc

Unpowered grass tent site

Liked: Absolutely amazing site! The pitches themselves have such beautiful views. Right by the shower and toilets. Close enough to the park for the children to go themselves. Extra special facilities like the pizza oven and games area. The cherry on top was feeding the animals with Tom. Don't think we'll ever find a camp site as good as this! The ladies at reception/shop couldn't do enough, lending us plates and a knife for us to have pizza as we'd forgotten to bring some with us. Thank you so much

Disliked: Silly really, but the hot water was a little too hot! As its not mixer taps the kids couldn't use the hot tap to wash as it was way too hot

From the manager: Thank you for the great review. We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us here at Treberfedd and thank you for saying you would recommend us to others. You were delightful guests to have and we appreciate the respect you showed our facilities and the space we have here. Really pleased you had a good time with Tom and the animals. We do pride ourselves on our customer service and its important to us that our guests have a good experience whilst that are with us. Thanks too for returning the plates and the knife.. Hope those pizzas tasted good and the ping pong balls were well used.

We really enjoyed our stay here and would be happy to come again.

Unpowered grass tent site

Liked: We loved the view and the peacefulness of the place. Loved being able to let the children play without any worries. The toilets were always clean and the shower was great. Plenty of hot water and plenty of space. Nothing worse than trying to shower kids in a cramped cubicle. Thankfully the shower here was perfect. The kids loved the playground and the games room. When I read the reviews there were a lot of comments about the code for the toilets. I spent the day before fretting that we hadn’t had a check in email or anything. But thankfully they have removed the need for a code and we didn’t need anything to check in. We also really enjoyed the campfire.

Disliked: The games room definitely needs updating! The kids still enjoyed it but it could be a lot better.

Aerona Eco cabin

Liked: Everything especially the peace and quite.

Disliked: The mattress and pillows!!! This ruined my stay because for the 3 nights stayed I could not sleep!! Travelled home with the worst neck and back ache and the journey was over 5 hours long. I didn’t receive an email advising me how to check in and wasn’t able to get through to anyone to ask. The wait in the morning for the shop wasn’t great either am diabetic and need to eat!!

Aerona Eco cabin

Liked: Everything was amazing, the location was breathtaking and the placement of the cabins meant waking up the views were the first thing to greet you. So much to do for the children both on the farm and around west wales. Honestly wish we had booked for longer as the four nights flew by so quick.

Local attractions

Just 10 miles from Cardigan Bay, Treberfedd Farm is handily set for exploring the sandy beaches and harbour towns of west Wales. A 25-minute drive will bring you to New Quay, home to Cardigan Bay Watersports, where you can try your hand at kayaking, paddleboarding, sailing and windsurfing. You can also take a boat trip out into Cardigan Bay to look out for bottlenose dolphins. If you'd prefer to keep your feet on dry land, follow the Dylan Thomas Trail along to many of the spots believed to have inspired the fictional Llareggub in Thomas’s Under Milk Wood. Another option is to buzz over to the New Quay Honey Farm and bring home some local wildflower honey. A visit to Aberystwyth, a 45-minute drive away, sends you back in time: at one end of the seaside town’s promenade, explore the ruins of an Edwardian fortress; at the other, take the Aberystwyth funicular to the top of Constitution Hill for spectacular views over the bay. From Aberystwyth, ride the Vale of Rheidol Railway for a steam train adventure through the Welsh countryside to Devil's Bridge. There's loads to do inland too, such as the Cae Hir Gardens and Tea Room, a family-owned Dutch-style garden two miles away; the Dolaucothi Gold Mines a 30-minute drive from the farm, and tours at the Silver Mountain Experience just under an hour away.
