  • Peaceful aire on a croft 15 minutes’ drive from Keith in Banffshire
  • Knockdhu five minutes’ drive; WDC Scottish Dolphin Centre half an hour
  • Spectacular views of Knock Hill; right on the Whisky Trail
Set in the spectacular Strathisla valley between Keith and Porstoy in Banffshire, Sillyearn Mains Aire is a remote and peaceful place looking over Knock Hill. The touring pitches are on a working croft surrounded by green pastures and forested upland; all have stunning views, and you can choose which way to park to enjoy your preferred outlook. With just a handful of neatly kept pitches, there are few people around to disturb your quiet time – and in fact, while you’re on site, the loudest noises you can expect will come from the resident sheep, cows, birds, horses or goats. Be mindful of them and keep any dogs under close control while on site. Climb up to the top of the site for special sunrise, sunset and Northern Lights views when conditions are favourable, and there are several walking and cycling options available from the front gate to suit all abilities or energy levels. While you’re out and about, keep a look out for local wildlife like red squirrels and red deer. This might be an off-the-beaten-track retreat but it’s within easy reach of facilities. The pitches are only 10 minutes’ drive from the nearest pub and 15 minutes from a supermarket, making it a convenient base for exploring attractions around Banffshire.
