  • Luxury glamping cabins five minutes' drive from Portpatrick
  • Coast walks, golf and gardens within 15 minutes' drive
  • Hot tub, outdoor cinema and open-air cooking facilities
Perhaps you’ve come to the Dumfries & Galloway countryside in search of outdoor activities, or maybe it’s peaceful strolls around pretty gardens and time to soak up some splendid scenery that bring you this way. Or, as Cairnryan is just up the road (20 minutes’ drive away, in fact) maybe you’re just in need of a stopover on the way to or from the Belfast ferry. Whatever it is that draws you up to this part of the world, you’ve made a good choice in staying at Coorie Retreats. This eco-friendly glamping site is a real haven for guests, with luxury accommodation surrounded by fabulous scenery. Five minutes’ drive from the seaside village of Portpatrick (via an A road), this is a handsome spot indeed for a few days spent exploring the area, with coastal scenery, lochs, wildlife and a good number of gardens to visit. And the opportunities to soak up the outdoor lifestyle continue back on site, where you’ll be able to use the open-air cooking facilities (including a barbecue and pizza oven) and spend evenings stargazing by the firepit or creating your own cosy alfresco movie night using the outdoor projector. Mind you, it’s highly possible you’ll choose to spend the evening bubbling away in your private wood-fired hot tub instead… Inside, your cabin has been done up with stylish decor and kitted out with lots of luxury elements including an ensuite bathroom (with toiletries, towels, slippers and gowns included), heating, a big comfy bed, a well-equipped kitchen and a sofa to flop out on. You may never want to leave…

What customers say

Great location, cosy dome with hot tub & thoughtful touches. Some found it chilly, needing heaters. Issues with projector, firestick, heating controls, and delayed access codes noted. Early checkout also a con.

Geodesic dome (four person, deluxe)

Liked Nothing

Disliked Not sure where to start on this, but I’ll keep it short….

But basically they told me my booking didn’t exist (as I was literally driving to the site). Yes it sounds crazy but it’s true.

They told me their system failed to sync up with the PITCHUP booking system.

What’s worse is I had emailed them TWICE before I set off on the journey, the first was 9 days before and the second time just a day before check-in. And I was asking whether my booking was okay etc as I had heard absolutely nothing from them officially since booking with PITCHUP.

I was told yes don’t worry you’ll get some information regarding check-in shortly (9 days prior) and the day before I didn’t even get a response til the day after which was check-in. Which was a generic what’s your name and booking ref. That of which was already in the body of the email further down from 9 days prior.

The day of check-in I’d still heard nothing and had to blow up their phone with phone calls that of which were all ignored. I then sent a text messsge saying how desperate I was for them to call me back as I’m driving to you right now and needed answers.

I then get a simple text back what’s your name and check-in date. I’m like are your serious right now?!?! Texting me hiding behind your phone I’ve never seen such a lack of etiquette and professionalism.

Eventually after harassing them via text they eventually told me of the issue and confirmed my fears my booking didn’t exist and the biggest shock was the fact they quite simply responded with do any other dates suit you??!?!!? In disbelief. I’ve booked 3 days off work, packed my bags, bought all food and got my family in the car to drive to the campsite.

And after all this stress they quite simply say oh sorry do any other dates suit you? Literally sitting by the side of the road en-route and you ask me for other dates like it’s no big deal.

It took me around 4-5 hours to eventually get the cowards to phone me like humans do and talk about this properly.

By that point I was back home wasted journey extremely annoyed with a very sad 6yr old her trip didn’t even happen.

PITCHUP were great and got involved to chase my refund.

They did offer me a 1 night free stay, I said well can we come to an arrangement for 2? As it’s not worth the 8hour round trip for a single night. I was happy to pay the other night. But they told me no. So I told them to shove their free stay as this whole experience has left a sour taste.

So yeah, they advertise on TikTok as 5 star. But their customer service and people skills are -5 stars

Absolute joke of a place. Apologies for bad grammar or spelling and ranting but congrats if you got this far in the review.

Coorie, if you see this. Please do better

Geodesic dome (two person, deluxe)

Liked Really cosy pod however few improvements needed.

Disliked We had to adjust the projector as it was only half on the screen when we got there. The Firestick for the projector was really slow to work. No instructions on how to start the fire inside the pod and there was no under floor heating monitor as mentioned within the welcome pack. We never received a code prior to arriving to get into our pod and had to contact them directly to find this out. Had to keep electric heaters on all night as the pod gets really cold. Outside of pod could be covered to stop rain coming in sideways.
