Liked: Location

Disliked: Roads rough. Services very distant. A water pipe nearer pitches (45) would help. Elsan miles away and no parking space there. Entry time of 2 pm is very late - only 21 hours in a day.

Liked: Absolutely stunning views from the site. We had a level pitch overlooking the sea and castle - breathtaking. Site is spotlessly clean, quiet, good phone reception, fabulous facilities, friendly host - perfect. Easy stroll from the site into nearby Portpatrick was a treat. Will definitely return.

Liked: Outstanding facilites when we stayed 2 nights camping. The shower block looked very new and showers were very spacious and extremely clean. The owner lent us some sturdy tent pegs when we tild him we were using the slim pegs as the ground is a bit harder. Alan the groundsman is very polite and we chatted to him on afew occasions. Campsite is on top on thr cliffs with beautiful views. We will be returning next year

Disliked: Nothing to dislike about thr campsit. It has everthing you need when camping and very helpful staff

Liked: Loved the motorhome location overlooking the sea. Very peaceful. I broke our electric hook up cable and Garry was very kind to let us borrow one from the site.

Disliked: A little far to walk to the toilet/shower block. Especially when the wind and rain were blowing a hoolie.

Liked: Don't think they is anything to dislike about this site, Toilet block is immaculate, View from our pitch is one of the best i have ever had, close enough to the docks for a overnight stay before traveling, Nice walk into Portpatrick for food, drinks or just to soak up the tranquility of the fishing town. Can add this to my happy place locations.

Liked: Beautiful setting. Clean and well managed park. Friendly staff. Had a lovely time and will definitely be back.

Disliked: No dislikes. Might be good to have water at pitches as had to move the motorhome to the fresh water area to fill up with more water when needed.

Local attractions

Take a stroll through the lush waterside plantings at Logan Botanic Garden (half an hour’s drive), where – thanks to the warming presence of the Gulf Stream – palms and eucalyptus trees thrive, while loch-side walks at Castle Kennedy Gardens (25 minutes) lead to the photogenic ruins of a castle and swathes of colourful rhododendrons (the latter in spring). When the kids need a relaxing run around in the fresh Scottish air, take them to Agnew Park (15 minutes) for go-karting, boating and expeditions aboard a mini train. There are walking and cycling trails for all abilities in Galloway Forest Park (45 minutes), where you could also surprise youngsters with feeding the goats at the Wild Goat Park (50 minutes). There are golf courses and fishing lakes within half an hour’s drive, and if you hit an odd rainy day (this being south-west Scotland), pay a visit to the fighter jets in their hangars at Stoneykirk Aviation Museum (15 minutes).
