Liked: Beautiful quiet site, clean facilities, great to have bike and kayak hire on site. Also you can borrow bbq's and firepits. The staff were really friendly and helpful.
Disliked: We had booked a grass electric pitch but decided to go without electric as the weather was nice and parked on a non electric pitch instead. The non electric pitches are really well spaced out (huge field, park where you like) but all but two of the grass electric pitches are right at the back of the hardstanding pitches, so your van backs on to the van on the hardstanding pitch with no room between. It just made it a bit cramped.

Apex camping pod (five person)
Liked: Red kites flying overhead campsite, peaceful location
Disliked: Limited information available onsite, can get owners by mobile...if you manage to get a phone signal. Kitchen/dishing washing area limited for number of pitches. Note you will need to drive to access water for paddleboarding/kayaking, which wasn't clear in description. Camping field nice and spacious, but very hilly.

Camping pod (bunk beds, no pets)
Liked: Brilliant camp site in remote location in Golloway Forest Park. Fishing, kayaking, mountain bike hire, all available to book on site at reasonable prices. Accommodation( camping pod) clean and perfect for our needs. Fridge, microwave, toaster and kettle available, but if you want to use them you have to top up your prepaid electric meter (takes £1 or £2 coins) Toilet and shower block well maintained and kept clean throughout the day.
Disliked: Site hosts/operators not on site all day but can be reached on mobile phone if you lucky enough to have signal.

Liked: Just back from a fantastic weekend at Hensol estate. Beautiful setting with relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Amazing to watch the Red kites flying over our tent and hear the owls at night while we sat around our fire. Lovely loch near by to swim and paddleboard. Definitely be back.
