Beach

  • Peaceful family park with loch and mountain views
  • Fishing, mini beach and private jetty
  • Communal lounge with TV and games, play area and family amenities
If you've ever seen Loch Lomond, you'll have spotted right away that it's one of the lushest and most peaceful places in all the land (and that surely is saying something). A holiday here at some stage is a must – and if you want quiet and safe surroundings, well-maintained pitches and a bit of angling action thrown in, settle yourself for a stay at Loch Lomond Holiday Park. The setting here is sublime, just off the A82 but right on the lochside, among spectacular greenery and with easy access to the site's private jetty and small sandy beach. It's near the hamlet of Inveruglas on the west shore of Loch Lomond, within the Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park and about 13 miles from the Loch Lomond Park Centre. Quad biking, castles, boat cruises, sailing and kayaking are all easily available in under an hour. Among the well-kept facilities are a play area and a lounge with TV and games. You can also cast your line off around the site to see what fishy specimens can be landed. Also on site are clean and tidy toilet and shower blocks (with family facilities), a washing-up area and a launderette.

What customers say

Lovely, tidy site with great Loch Lomond views. Spacious, private pitches. Friendly, helpful staff. Generally clean facilities, though basic. Good for loch access and dogs. Some noise from road/train, and touring facilities secondary to lodges.

Fully-serviced concrete slab caravan site

Liked The pitch was a well kept hardstanding fully serviced pitch (although the coax aerial connection didn't work). The shop was well stocked and reasonably priced. The laundry room had 2 large washing machines and 2 large tumble dryers which were reasonably priced and easy to use.

Disliked It appears from the images that the pitches are all close to the loch which is the reason for picking this site as we wanted access for kayaking. However the touring pitches are all set back as the site obviously revolves around the chalet pitches. Furthermore the touring pitches as a result are close to the road which is very busy and the railway is just past this so they aren't particularly peaceful. The pitches aren't particularly big and are only separated by waist height hedges so not much privacy. The toilet block has only 1 shower, 1 toilet and 1 urinal on the male side and 1 shower and 2 toilets on the female side to serve all of the touring pitches. These were not particularly clean either. Entry to the site was difficult. There is a barrier with a code which isn't provided ahead of arrival. There is a bell button which wasn't answered and a phone number There which wasn't answered. I had to wait with car and caravan while my wife walked to reception ( in a downpour) to get access. This wasn't isolated to us- we could see the entrance from our pitch and witnessed this ordeal repeated during our stay. During our second day after a few hours kayaking on the loch, we returned cold and wet needing a hot shower only to find that the power to the shower block had tripped and the site had no awareness of this . So having got ready for a shower we had to get dressed before getting dried to go back to reception to get this sorted and then a long wait in the cold while the problem was resolved. Speaking to another guest at this time we learnt that they had arrived around lunchtime that day and had to wait 2 hours to get the water turned on for their pitch. When we finally did get to use the showerers we found that they were very hot but not very powerful with no way of adjusting- just a push tap. We managed OK but this wouldn't do for a family at all- especially with young children. We've paid a lot less for campsites that are a lot better set up for caravans and motor homes. We paid a premium expecting a perfect place to say while we kayak on loch lomond and were disappointed as a result. The price should be adjusted or the facilities and management of the touring pitches should be improved. I realise that it's a holiday park- not a campsite but this should reflect in the touring pitch price.

Liked The whole site is very clean.

Well laid out.

The staff were polite & helpful

Disliked Not a major problem, but the bins are down the steep hill from the touring pitches.

The exit onto the main road is a little difficult/dangerous at busy times

Fully-serviced concrete slab caravan site

Liked On the Loch. Friendly check in. Good even pitches with water, grey water and hook up at each.

Disliked Only one male toilet and shower. 2 female toilets and 1 shower…the shower in the female toilets needed a deep clean, mould edging it.
There is road noise, but it didn’t bother us.

Local attractions

The loch – and beach – should keep you and the family/dog busy for a day or three after arriving at the park; after that, plenty more activities and attractions are easily had within driving distance. You could, for example, check out the views over Lochgoilhead (about 30 minutes’ drive west and much recommended), or get out onto the local waters with a Loch Lomond cruise or a guided canoe trip among the spectacular scenery of Loch Goil. Cycling, walking and fishing as well as shopping, restaurants and bars at Portavadie Marina 90 minutes' drive south-west; for more food, a famed and closer option in this area is the Loch Fyne Oyster Bar in Cairndow half an hour’s drive west, a place of acclaimed seafood and smashing views. Also at Cairndow, the Fyne Ales brewery is an environmentally-friendly venture set up in old farm buildings at Achadunan, with tours and a shop open to visitors. There's also the Ardkinglas estate, a 13th-century house with over 12,000 acres of hills and landscaped parkland (although do check its opening hours before you set off). Other options are Inveraray Castle, 40 minutes to the west; Inveraray Jail (with ghost hunting available) and Auchindrain Township Museum, just under an hour’s drive west.
