Field

  • Wild camping field with spectacular views over Aberdeenshire farmland
  • 10 minutes' drive from Banff; Speyside Way 20 minutes
  • Family and dog-friendly site near shops, cafés and dolphin spotting
Lodgehill Campsite is a four-acre grass site set in arable fields overlooking peaceful Aberdeenshire countryside. It’s wild camping at its best, but with the added advantage of being close to the towns of Cornhill (five minutes’ drive) and Banff (10 minutes) for essential shopping, making this a clever back-to-basics choice for families – and dogs are welcome too. The region is well-known for its agricultural shows and boat festivals during the summer months, and it’s a short road trip to Banff's beach, the distilleries that line the Speyside Way or to see dolphins swimming in the Moray Firth. Historic fishing villages with seafront cafés and welcoming pubs are also within easy reach. Secluded it might be, but the site is also easily accessed off the main A95 road – and you can park by the pitches too, so there’s no lugging gear around the site for you. The main pitching area is very spacious indeed and is a short walk away from a burn and the wilder areas of the farm. Barbecues are allowed at Lodgehill Campsite – just keep them off the ground and use your common sense.

What customers say

Peaceful spot, great views. Basic but clean facilities incl. hot shower & composting loos. Spacious pitches. Most love the quiet, some find it remote. Steep loo steps, occasional noise noted. Tents not ideal for big groups. Many keen to return.

Unpowered grass site

Liked Lots of space, and beautiful scenery, just a short drive from Portsoy. Perfect if you are self sufficient and just want a pitch for the night. The owner has tried hard to provide a few facilities like a basic toilet and shower, bins and a sheltered area to enjoy some outside space and bbq. We were in a motorhome so had everything we needed on board and didn't need anything else other than a parking area, with lovely views and a lovely quiet night's sleep away from main roads.

Disliked The field is on a slope so although we had chocks and were able to level up, it is something to bear in mind. £20 just to park up a motorhome which uses no other facilities and has no black or grey waste disposal provision is still expensive but cheaper than most other campsites.

Unpowered grass site

Liked Nice quiet beautiful scenery loved being there first time Eco camping would do it again. Great stop off point if heading further north might stop off on way back.
Facilities are clean and well maintained.

Disliked Steps going into the toilet are quite steep due to not being able to do stairs very well, made it hard so not really a problem for some nowhere to wash up as only hot water is the outdoor shower.

Bell tent

Liked absolutely beautiful camp site in the most peaceful setting. we were the only ones there and stayed in the bell tent .

the site is lovely. composting toilets were clean and well stocked . The shower was lovely and warm

The polytunnel was a lovely touch sheltering us from the wind whilst watching the sun go down .

this has to be my favourite camp site and we will definitely be back .

We left feeling so rested
