Unpowered grass tent site

Liked Getting away from home.

Disliked We stayed for 2 nights. Woke up to dog poo around our tent the next morning. Also the toilet facilities are not adequate for the amount of guests in the camp site. There is only 3 or 4 toilets for men when are always busy or stinking due to the amount of use. Also the idea of a £50 hold is ridiculous for a tent on a campsite.

From the manager: Hi Luke, thank you for taking the time to leave a review of your stay. We regret to read that you did not experience the stay that we would have hoped. We do appreciate all feedback from our guests as we always strive to improve upon our offering and guest experience. We are looking in to this for future offerings and take this on board. We also are happy to say we are in the process of removing our security holds.

Regarding the dog foul, we do always advise all guests to pick up after their dogs and we can appreciate how frustrating this can be when dog owners do not do so, therefore we can only apologise. If reported to our team, they are always on hand to aid and ensure the site is kept clean.

We do hope this wouldn't put you off staying in other accommodation with us in the future.

Kind regards,
Team Blair's

Unpowered grass tent site

Liked I liked how close it was too the town. The lady at reception was so lovely, friendly and helpful if needed. Shes a fantastic addition too your premises. Any other staff members we seen or tried to engage with ignored us unfortunately.

Disliked I was slightly unhappy with the site we where on, it was extremely noisy. I was travelling with my 2 children, one which is autistic and the noise and disruption around us was disturbing for her, we awoke the Saturday morning too 3 amounts of dog feases outside our tent, we lifted this as the smell was terrible, signal wasn't great around the area, there was one plug in the bathroom which didn't work all weekend I had too travel too the office up the road too charge electronics, the stones on the drive too our pitch where dreadful and overall a cheap fix, which has resulted in me having too purchase a new tyre for my car due too driving in and out, the night warden i know he had a job too do but driving over stones with lights on full beam past 12oclock at night again didnt help my child, as when she startled with the noise and lights she was up all night, I mean its not all negative but I do think these things would impact my judgement too ever stay again.

Unpowered grass tent site

Liked There was ample space for pitching tents next to caravans. There were different types of rented pods. I camped and it was reasonable. the showers and toilets were handy and adequate.

Disliked The water in the showers overflowed the shower tray on my first morning . Had to rescue my clothes i'd left on the floor.

Geodesic dome

Liked The dome was spacious and toilets were clean.

Disliked The distance from the toilet block to the domes is too far. It is not practical at nighttime or during the night with small children. Having to wake them as a single parent and bring them to the toilet block with me would have been disastrous. We brought our own portable toilet and I’m glad that we did.
The system for the getting to the dome was poor also. You have to park at the barrier and walk to the dome to get your key and barrier card then walk back and swipe in and drive your car round. It’s poorly signposted, some signs clearly saying where the domes are and where to park/what to do would be helpful. I think even just getting your key and barrier pass at reception would be better as you’ve got to repeat the exercise in reverse when checking out and it was lashing today!

Geodesic dome

Liked The Geo dome was clean and in a good location for walking into Portrush town. Staff were friendly and nice when checking in.

Disliked The Geo Dome was clean but it smelt of cigarette smoke. There was Building work taking place behind on a Newley created static caravan site and we’re were woken up at 8am on 3’mornings by diggers directly behind the hut. A lack of bins meant that there was rubbish around the hut’s that we had to clear up, one of the guests left several empty cans of monster, pop and beer on their bench one evening and I was woken up at 3am when the wind picked up and blew them all around the campsite. One of the electrical sockets in the hut had a loose connection and would go off if the plug/cable was disturbed. I would have liked to see a shared kitchen area or somewhere to site when it rains.

From the manager: Thank you for taking the time to leave a review for the Geo Domes at Hilltop Holiday Park, we value all reviews from our guests. I am sorry to hear that your stay with us was not as it should have been.

We proactively deal with all issues and concerns raised by our guests. We wish we had been given the opportunity to offer alternative accommodation or to fix issues- especially the smells and wiring.

We apologise for the noise and have reviewed this disturbance and whilst our park is operational and sometimes works are carried out, we are actively looking at how to decrease disturbances like this. We can only apologise for the rubbish left by other customers and again will endeavour rubbish is cleared away on our routine checks.

We always welcome feedback & we do note that you were happy with our customer service, and cleanliness and we are appreciative of your feedback to improve on items and will most definitely consider your recommendations

We hope that you will return to Blairs Holiday Parks in the near future.

Local attractions

To the coast first? Portrush (five minutes' drive) has two lovely beaches (West Strand and East Strand), plus speedboat trips, watersports and the popular Curry's Fun Park, a huge indoor amusement park. Just a little way outside the town are the famed Royal Portrush Golf Club (five minutes) and White Rocks beach (10 minutes), a wilder stretch that's popular with surfers, kayakers and anglers. There’s history along this coastline too – nearby Dunluce Castle (10 minutes) is a good place to start, before you head further along the Causeway Coastal Route to the basalt structures of the Giants Causeway (20 minutes) and the windswept Carrick-A-Rede Rope Bridge (half an hour). Crossing the bridge can be a little nerve-wracking so you may like to stop in for a soothing dram at Old Bushmills Distillery (15 minutes) afterwards. Don't neglect the inland attractions though – there’s plenty of scope here for lovely walks among lush scenery, and of course a trip to the atmospheric Dark Hedges (25 minutes), which found global fame through Game of Thrones.
