  • Local pub within 50 metres and several more within easy reach
It's a simple couple of minutes' amble (or totter) to (or back from) the pub local to Holly Bush Park in the Blackdown Hills, but that's not even the most mighty fine part of this small and secluded site... This peaceful place's setting six miles south of Taunton is also a teeny drive from the border with Devon, among countryside walks, Forestry Commission woods and yet more country pubs, and all in a wildlife haven and Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. If it's sands and dinos you seek, Lyme Regis, Charmouth and the spectacular Jurassic Coast are all within 35 minutes; closer to home, the site is directly opposite woodland; golf, horse riding and fishing are within a couple of miles, and two sports centres are under five miles away. Although it's a small site, Holly Bush is acclaimed for its excellent and well-kept facilities and its overall setup, laid out over two and a half acres with green space aplenty for kids – and their grownups – to play. The amenities block has separate ladies' and gents' shower areas, free hot water, toilets, a washing-up area and a laundry room. Calor gas is available to buy on site.

A friendly, generally well-kept campsite with clean facilities and hot showers. Close to a good pub and local walks. Usually quiet, but road noise can be heard during the day. Liked Convenience to Wellington, where we were dropping our van back to.

The owner/manager was very welcoming and accomodating on arrival.

Lots of space.

Showers/toilets were clean

Disliked The location is on quite a busy road and its promoted as being close to the local pub, which it is, but you have to walk on a very fast road and the pub is closed on sunday evenings.

It didnt feel secure, as needed combination locks, due to problems they had, had with travellers in the area.

The wifi is nearly non existent.

Lower Field unpowered grass and gravel tent site (two person, small)

Liked Great campsite. We stayed one night before Buddha field festival. Good location for that.
Good facilities. Clean toilet and shower block. Mop in shower and request to keep it clean for next person.
Friendly and welcoming staff.

Disliked Lower ground campsite tent pitches were very close to a busy road- noisy.
Only 2 female showers. Wasn’t a problem out Of season but could imaging might get busy when campsite booked out.

For first timers this was perfect for us, happy to use again

Liked Great campsite very welcoming on our arrival. Lovely mown grass and flat absolutely clean and tidy toilet block.

Disliked Only minor thing and absolutely nothing to do with campsite a few noisy cars and motorcycles racing by on main road.

Liked Such a lovely welcome and gem of a site. Paul and the site staff were so friendly and helpful and really charming to chat with. Beautiful grass pitch, well positioned electric connections, shower so hot I needed to turn it down, and beautiful surroundings in lush green countryside. Lovely roast at the pub next door too.

This is a stunning setting, metres from woodland, walks and country pubs, and within easy driving distance of activities and attractions over Somerset, Devon and Dorset. Playing fields and parks are close by. The coasts of three counties are all handy for day trips: at Somerset, have a day at Weston-super-Mare or Minehead, both under an hour away; at Devon, make for Seaton and Dawlish, 35 and 55 minutes' drive respectively, and at Dorset, dig into the attractions of the Jurassic Coast at Lyme Regis, Bridport and West Bay, all within 45 minutes.
