Liked: Location was good
Disliked: The pitch was a mud bath. There was no real pitch to speak off just a patch of grass. The toilets only had cold water basins in no hot. The showers dripped condensation onto you because they were pods and not a proper toilet block. Electricity you pay for in chunks, given £3 to start with the booking however they tried to sell you more even though we didn’t use the £3 we had originally The surrounding of the site is messy, loads of old caravans Overpriced for what you get and they charge for dogs which I don’t agree with as they don’t have any facilities such as a dog walk or poo bins.

From the manager: We've learnt to accept that people's expectation of a camping experience in March after and during torrential rain and not more than 5 consecutive dry days since June 2023 varies considerably! We have had a number of very positive reviews of the same weekend complimenting us on how we went the extra mile to ensure that folk were able to make the very most of a very wet weekend! We found solutions for anyone who raised concerns whilst here - sadly you failed to do that giving us no opportunity to make your stay more comfortable so let me take your points and reply one by one: The pitch was a mud bath. There was no real pitch to speak off just a patch of grass. You booked a grass pitch in March after the wettest start to the year since records began – what exactly did you expect The toilets only had cold water basins in no hot. The basins all have a hot water supply – if you had raised your concern with us, we would have fixed the issue The showers dripped condensation onto you because they were pods and not a proper toilet block. Our showers are cited by most as the best they have ever found on a campsite – no additional charge, no push buttons, great pressure and piping hot! Sorry if you were dripped on – we think the benefits mentioned far outweigh a few drips! Electricity you pay for in chunks, given £3 to start with the booking however they tried to sell you more even though we didn’t use the £3 we had originally. We do nothing of the sort! We simply explain that if you are going to use an electric heater, you will use considerable more that £3.00 per night. We make it very clear before arrival and on arrival that we will refund any amount left on your meter. For most people that’s less than £1.00 and they ask us to pop it in our charity tin! The surrounding of the site is messy, loads of old caravans. We have a number of stored vans on one area which we have pulled forward so that we can clean the rhyne behind them. Owners will soon be cleaning their vans ready for the season. Overpriced for what you get and they charge for dogs which I don’t agree with as they don’t have any facilities such as a dog walk or poo bins. Had you looked or indeed asked, we would have directed you to one of our 8 dog bins. We have in fact just ordered a further 4 at a cost of £523.96 plus £273 to install them. These costs plus the cost of emptying them and picking up after those owners who don’t mean that we have to recover some of the cost of allowing doges on site. Our £3.00 charge per night has not increased for 22 years! So, in summary – had you taken the time to talk to us, we would have resolved all of the above – sadly you chose to tell the world your views rather than the people who could have made your stay so much more enjoyable! Hopefully you’ll give your next hosts a chance to do that…..
A really nice site and very friendly staff. We will be returning.

Liked: Lovely accessible and clean facilities lots of open space for children to run and the dog?
Disliked: Grass electric pitches were water logged hopefully more drainage will be added to avoid the extra standing surface water weather can not be helpe

From the manager: So glad you, your children and your dog enjoyed your stay :) The Met Office definition of a dry spell is 10 consecutive dry days. The last time we enjoyed that was in June 2023! Farmers will tell you that managing their land even with drainage is impossible at the moment as the water literally has nowhere to go. We plan to install more grass-grids to ease driving on the land but thats really all we can do to ease access to pitches during such wet conditions. We hope to welcome you back in sunnier times! Jules and the team

Liked: The place was beautiful with all you would need. The farm shop had fresh produce as well as some local corner shop items. You could also purchase local cider ☺️. The toilets well well maintained and there was a large washing up area with automatic sensor lights that came on at night. The campsite owner was very helpful and polite. I would recommend ☺️ we booked for a peaceful quiet night and we got just that!
Disliked: Not so much a dislike but we had booked a grass pitch for the van but due to muddy grass we were put on a hard standing pitch. This was not a problem at all, just not what we booked. Not sure if there are provisions for that in off seasons but just bear in mind you may only get a hard non grass pitch in wet weather.

Liked: Very flexible arrival and leaving times. Jules who booked us into the site was very friendly and welcoming. It is clearly a very friendly and accommodating site with good amenities. There was an onsite shop which had fire wood, drinks and lots of other things. Even with mud caused by days/weeks of heavy rain, the site owners were cautious of where they were placing people to try and prevent mud etc. It was a very peaceful site.
Disliked: It would be wrong for me to give any dislikes, overall it was a very good experience and the only bad parts would be unreasonable to complain about or are completely out of anyone’s control. (Mud caused by days of heavy rain etc, site owners had even accommodated for this.) We also visited at the start of March (we woke up to snow on the day of travelling to the site), which is a very much an off peak period, so most things were understandably not running.
