  • Peaceful family-oriented site among spectacular scenery
  • A short drive to the New Forest; walking distance to Moors Valley
  • Local pub 20 minutes' walk away
Gundrys Farm is a peaceful family-run site in a wildlife haven 10 minutes' drive from the New Forest. A former working farm, it covers 50 acres of land to make up a scenic, friendly and family-oriented site with a countryside atmosphere. The farm is adjacent to the Moors Valley Country Park, 15 minutes of off-road walk or a short bike ride away, and 10 minutes' drive from Avon Heath Country Park. Outdoor days of a different sort can be easily had at Hurn's Adventure Wonderland, just over five miles away. Gundrys is a quiet site, with spacious, level and well-maintained pitches in a dedicated touring field in a wildlife haven with heaps of species to see. The local pub is worth spotting too, as it's only 20 minutes' amble away… Amenities include a shower block with four cubicles, two toilet blocks, washing-up areas and chemical disposal points, all of which are cleaned/checked several times daily. There is wifi, but there is only good signal at reception.

Liked: The location is beautiful and very peaceful

Disliked: The pitches are badly worn so mainly mud, the facilities are shocking, dirty toilet sheds with no hot water and found on visit not well stocked with toilet roll or blue hand towel (ladies) The showers again dirty mixed sex and flooded the whole time we were there. One shower missing cold tap so only scolding hot water. Opened main outer door to naked man drying himself due to the water in the shower block on the floor. Advertised WiFi but couldn’t connect the whole time there. Sadly this could and should be a great site but it needs investment and better management to run it.

Liked: Lots of space around each pitch. Staff was very understanding as I rang up about getting to the site late due to car problems and they gave me instructions for gate codes etc. Clean facilities. Close to garden centre and mountain warehouse for a small walk. Lovely area.

Liked: The loo block was mostly cleen

Disliked: The shower where some of the worst I've ever seen. I think I would be more dirty coming out than going in. They ran out of toilet paper one night. The grass wasn't in a great condition so we had to pitch between between two pichis. Not directly the fault of the campsite, but it was a very noisy campsite.

Liked: Wonderful site. Secured with 2 coded gates. Bathroom and shower blocks were both clean and tidy.

Disliked: Asked to be put near my mum and brother as we was travelling together. We was put on alternate plots even though there was spaces available for us to be together.

Liked: Really well maintained and quiet campsite with everything you need. Lots of space between pitchs and good facilities. Local to moor vappey activity centre which the kids absolutely loved. Relaxed atomosphere which enables you to really connect. We hate when its commercialised and has a clubhouse pumping music till 1am so this was our perfect cup of tea

Disliked: Nothing, cant wait to come again

Liked: Large open space for children to play. Clean washing up area, very hot water, showers nice and hot, reasonable pitch size.

Disliked: Toilets and shower areas dirty, leaking taps, only the toilet floor appeared to be mopped regularly. Urinals not cleaned for the duration of our stay. Area around toilets extremely muddy after rain. Advertised WiFi was not existent .

Liked: Wasn’t sure what to expect, based on reviews I’d read but overall, our experience was positive. The pitches are large and, in our field, were placed around the edge, leaving a large field in the middle for the children to play/cycle. The campsite is in a great location for days in Bournemouth, Poole and New Forest. Moors Valley Country Park is about 35 minute off-road stroll from the campsite. We had all weathers over bank holiday weekend. The entrance to the field (and therefore walk to the toilets) floods quickly and leave behind a lot of mud. Facilities were on the basic side but adequate for our short stay. The toilets were clean and had loo roll but got low at times. There are no hand driers and the blue hand towel roll ran out on day one and wasn’t replenished over the weekend. The showers are in a separate block. Plenty of hot water but limited space to keep clothes dry. Two security gates to pass through to get onto the field.

Local attractions

Nature trails, bike paths, a golf course and monkeying around in the treetops of Go Ape are all at Moors Valley Country Park, reachable from Gundrys Farm via an easy bike ride or short ramble. Avon Heath Country Park and New Forest are both within a short drive. About 10 miles away are the clean, safe and award-winning beaches and waters of Bournemouth, Poole and Mudeford; sailing venue Weymouth is a bit further along the coast, and the Jurassic Coast is about 50 to 60 minutes from base by car. If you want to island-hop, it's about half an hour to the ferry for Brownsea Island, the National Trust wildlife haven in Poole Harbour accessible by boat from Poole Quay or Sandbanks. Brownsea has a shop and a café for after your island hike or a watery dip off the island's southern side; free guided walks leave from the visitor centre twice daily. Also in the area, the old centres of Salisbury and Southampton are both well worth the trip for city days out.
