  • Small-scale site overlooking a nature reserve on the Isle of Purbeck
  • A five-minute drive from Wareham; 20 minutes from Jurassic Coast
  • Wild camping-style pitches with access to simple facilities
Heath View Camping is a small-scale secluded site spread over a field of two and a half acres on the Isle of Purbeck, part of the Dorset Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Only a handful of pitches are let at any one time, so there’s heaps of space to spread out at this peaceful spot. It backs onto open heathland managed by the RSPB as a nature reserve so you’re guaranteed to wake up to the sound bird song, and it’s likely you’ll spot deer and other wildlife too. In keeping with those surroundings, all has been kept as natural as possible – pitches are of a wild camping style, with access to simple facilities at a small toilet block with cold running water. You’re most welcome to light a barbie or build a campfire to keep you warm of an evening, but cars aren’t allowed on the pitches (those pitching tents will need to park up and walk over, but the folk on site can lend a hand with bulky kit if needed). This may feel like something of a remote location but in fact the town of Wareham is a mere five minutes’ drive away for supermarkets, food shops, pubs and wanders on the quay. Beyond that, there’s plenty to keep you busy during your stay: Monkey World, Swanage and Durdle Door are all within a 20-minute drive. Solo travellers and those arriving by foot or by bicycle receive a discount at Heath View Camping.
