  • Peaceful, safe and family-friendly touring caravan and camping park
  • Ideally situated near Poole, Bournemouth, Weymouth and Swanage
  • Excellent base for Dorset and the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site
Come partridge-spotting at Pear Tree Holiday Park, a tranquil and secure site near Poole that’s in an ideal position for touring Dorset’s gorgeous World Heritage Jurassic Coast, and all the family fun of resorts like Weymouth and Bournemouth. You can pick your perfect spot when you book - the terraces of pitches lie amidst lovely old oak trees and are screened by well-established hedges; there are fully serviced pitches with water, electricity and grey water drainage, on both hardstandings and grass, and a separate area with large pitches for tents, most of which have electric hook-ups, and room to park the car alongside. The ablutions block includes a family room in both male and female with baby changing and a Belfast sink for bathing toddlers. There are washers, dryers and an ironing kit in the laundry room, and the on-site shop sells all the essentials (ice creams, sweets, chocolate... plus other basic provisions and camping gear). The kids can have fun safely swinging and scrambling around the fenced adventure playground, and it’s just a short trundle along the road to a nearby family pub - or, if you want to go a little further afield, just hop aboard one of the buses to Poole and Swanage that stop at the park gates. Canine campers can come along too, as long as they’re on a lead and supervised at all times.

Local attractions

Pear Tree Holiday Park is perfectly placed for an exploration of the natural wonderland of Dorset’s Jurassic Coast, a World Heritage Site famous for its dramatically beautiful shores, geology and wildlife. Want to know what 180 billion pebbles look like? Make for the stunning 18-mile stretch of shingle at Chesil Bank. Other geological giants nearby include the lofty limestone arch of Durdle Door, the fossil-filled shore at Kimmeridge (also fab for rockpooling) and the dreamy curve of Lulworth Cove, perfect for a day of swimming and sungazing, or for a stroll along the comely clifftops. There’s more challenging walking in the nearby hills. Head southbound to reach Studland and Godlingstone Heath Nature Reserve, where you can picnic among the sand dunes before attempting to spot all six varieties of British reptile, along with a vast variety of wild birds, insects and deer. In search of more urban attractions? Follow in the footsteps of Lawrence of Arabia in the nearby town of Wareham - this bustling little place with its twice-weekly markets was one of his regular haunts in his latter years, and you can find out more about the acclaimed adventurer in the town museum, and visit his former home at Clouds Hill. The resorts of Poole, Weymouth, Bournemouth and Swanage are also easily reached from Pear Tree Holiday Park, and offer myriad family attractions alongside their glorious beaches and traditional seaside fun and games. Pear Tree Holiday Park’s managers have plenty of other tips for trips up their sleeves, so just ask for some friendly advice or pick up one of the many information leaflets in the park’s tourist information kiosk.
