Star fully-serviced concrete slab caravan site

Liked: Every member of staff we came in contact with were helpful, friendly and polite. The site and the amenities were spotless.

Disliked: While the touring pitch was large it was down a dead end, and as we were in the very last pitch, it was tight turning the caravan around.

Liked: The motorhome pitch was good with hedging for privacy either side. The touring field is to back of site, but we had a fully serviced pitch which met our needs in full. Footpath from site takes you directly into Bridport, which has a delightful market on Wednesday and plenty of galleries and coffee houses before a walk back. Didnt use entertainment as dogs not welcome. Also recommend fish and chip shop nearby, very good size portions and fish was tasty.

Disliked: Pitchesxare on top of each other and I do prefer a more tranquil setting.

Liked: The staff were really friendly, always had time for a chat. The site was clean & tidy all the time. Just a very short walk to the local harbour where there are lots of places to eat, beach on either side (one side is disabled friendly), market and a some gift shops. Great place for fishing with fishing shops as well. Ideal if you just want to go for a walk and a wonder round. Bridport town is a short walk away or there are buses that go into Bridport town, Weymouth and other places although they only run every 2 hours so you do have to plan your day. There are so many places to go and see and do. Fantastic place to go We loved our stay so much we extended our stay by 2 days

Disliked: Pitches are quite small if you have a large awning. You have to park your car within your pitch (they are very strict with this) and it can be difficult. The shower/toilet block is cold most of the time because there are 2 doors which are always open. There isn't anywhere to put your things except on 2 hooks on the door in the shower so if your not careful your stuff gets wet. Had to go to the entertainment centre to get wifi

Liked: Booking of the holiday was great via Pitchup. Organisation at West Bay was great too for checking in. When we arrived there was a dog poo bag from the previous travellers left on our site but the warden at West Bay cleared it away really quickly. Site was clean. Shame the pool wasn't working as, with the weather being as bad as it was, it would have been nice to have that as an option. Site is perfectly placed for exploring the village.

Disliked: pool was closed due to unforeseen circumstances - would have been nice to have been advised of this beforehand.

Disliked: Over priced Pitches are unkempt Charging £4 per dog per night is extortionate when all they provide is a couple of dog bins Run down needs investment

Local attractions

Start on the doorstep in West Bay itself: you could go fossil hunting underneath the sandstone cliffs, crabbing in the harbour, take a boat tour of the Jurassic Coast, or head out into the big blue yonder on a sea fishing trip; then there’s golf, paragliding, scuba diving, watersports, and excellent walking along the coastal paths… Take a break from feeding yourself up on all the gorgeous local produce to hand feed the birds at Abbotsbury Swannery, where the 600 nesting mute swans make for an impressive sight (and plenty of hungry beaks); there are also award-winning gardens and a kids' farm to explore. The coastal resort of Lyme Regis has been drawing the crowds since time immemorial and is well worth a visit; other historical gems in West Dorset include the Jacobean manor house of Mapperton, set amongst topiary, terraced gardens and rolling hills; Forde Abbey and gardens; a cluster of castles; and the giant chalk man in the hillside at Cerne Abbas. Alternatively, if there are animal addicts in your party, they'll go ape for the 240-plus inhabitants of Monkey World and potty for the penguins and underwater specimens at Weymouth Sea Life Park.
