  • Family-run site on the north Devon coast with spectacular sea views
  • Five minutes' walk to Hartland and 10 mins' drive to Mouthmill beach
  • Fishing pond on site; surf and canoe lessons arranged nearby
If you’re a fan of fishing and floating around in north Devon, head over to Hartland Caravan and Camping Park, in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty about a 10-minute drive (plus a scenic walk) to the remote shores of Mouthmill beach with its famed Blackchurch natural rock arch. Yet more sandy and pebbly beaches, leisure parks, golf courses, driving ranges and horse riding are also all around the region; for treks with views of the sea amble along the South West Coast Path from Mouthmill or take to the Tarka Trail, which runs in a circular route from Barnstaple before skirting the coast near the park. Join it for coastal and countryside wanders through pretty north Devon towns and villages like Braunton, Ilfracombe, Combe Martin and Lynmouth, stopping by surf beach Croyde along the way. For eats, the shops of Hartland (including small general stores selling meat, fruit and vegetables alongside everyday groceries) are a five-minute stroll down the road. This village also has a couple of pubs serving food, wine and beer (one is a gin specialist too…). For the morning after the night before, a coffee shop is on hand for cappuccinos and bacon rolls.

What customers say

Friendly, tidy campsite with good facilities & spacious, scenic pitches. Owners are lovely & helpful. Great spot for exploring, near Hartland village. Usually quiet, though some noise from nearby businesses & pitches can be close. Limited toilets at busy times – room for improvement.

Liked From the moment we arrived we were greeted with a warm welcome and showed to our pitch which was a generous size with a beautiful view.
My wife says the ladies shower block were the best she has been to as they were clean and roomy constant hot water and clean. It even had a proper hairdryer. The male showers were just as good.
The owners gave us great ideas for trips on our stay with perfect directions.

Liked * great location for someone hiking the coastal path. The bus goes from clovelly visitor car park and stops about 10m from the entrance to the campsite. The bus costs £1.60 and the journey is less than 15 min. The campsite in Clovelly would need me to walk 1.5miles to get to it and was more expensive even when factoring in bus fare.
* Makes a good base for a few days. I got the bus to Clovelly and hiked the Hartland section and walked back to camp. I also spent a day exploring the area, e.g. church, abbey, before then moving on.
* The campsite is only 5-10mins walk to centre of village where there are 3 pubs, cafe, and convenience stores so there are lots of very good food options for eating out.
* The laundry facilities are metered and have different prices for different types of wash. The wash worked out cheaper that at other campsites. I got help with getting a clothes line to avoid putting my merrano wool tops in the drier.
* flat areas for pitching tent
* Is a relatively small site on a working farm. Has a quiet atmosphere.
* Very friendly and helpful.

Liked Great small Campsite - Rebecca and John are very friendly. It’s our second visit to this site. Well run and clean, sure we will make it a third at some point.

We hit it “just right” with the Shanty Choir and an Irish American Fiddle band on different nights in the Anchor pub. - 5 mins walk away.

Small and warm community of permanent dwellers, a few mobile homes, tourers like us, part timers who keep their caravans there, regular visitors.

It’s split into Fields - we were on a lower field - for those on the upper fields it’s a bit of a walk to the facilities.

Disliked Nothing.

Liked Lovely spacious pitches set in a series of separate fields. Excellent toilet and washroom facilities. Well-situated very close to Hartland village with pubs and shops within easy walking distance. Very friendly host. Nice relaxed informal atmosphere

Disliked Might be handy if they had a local map which one could consult for where the main attractions are relative to the campsite.

Liked Lovely views from field 3 pitch. Very helpful and friendly owners. Only 10 mins walk to the village with 3 pubs. Lots of lovely places to visit within a 20 min drive. Electric & water alongside the pitch. Well spaced pitches.

Disliked In high season, the limited facilities (2 toilets & showers in each of male & female areas) would be busy. Not a problem though on our visit in early September.

Liked Cute little campsite in a lovely corner of Devon, Becca was great, looked after us very well. Short walk (5mins) to pubs and to shop in Hartland. Nice walk to the coastal path (about 45 mins walk away). Site has hot showers, chemical disposal, electric hookups

Liked Lovely campsite with very friendly and helpful host Becca. Although no actual reception, good communication beforehand and during our stay.
Great to be given a choice of pitch/field. The site has a nice feel to it with plenty of mature hedging for privacy. Shower/Washing up block very clean and well designed.
Excellent woodland walks directly from the site and stunning coastal walks approx. 10 mins away by car.
5 mins flat walk to the friendly village with a choice of shops, pubs and fish & chip shop.
Overall a very enjoyable stay and we look forward to going back.

Disliked Could do with a few more ‘dogs to be kept on leads’ signs.
General rubbish bin area overflowing but once mentioned, measures were taken during our week to sort it out.
Some noise from the skip repair company next door.

Local attractions

Hartland Abbey is five minutes’ drive away from the site for relaxed roams around an old historical structure, although the rides of The Milky Way Adventure Park (10 minutes) could be a better option if you’re looking for entertainment for the kids… Younger members of your group may also be less keen on peering at the work in the Burton Art Gallery and Museum (25 minutes), which has lots of local crafts on display, but are sure to appreciate bucket and spade times at the sandy beach of Westward Ho! half an hour’s drive away. You might also be able to convince them into coming on morning jaunts to Northam Burrows Country Park (also 30 minutes) or birdwatching at the RSPB Isley Marsh (35 minutes) with the lure of an afternoon at The Big Sheep farm-themed amusement park (20 minutes).
