What customers say

Peaceful rural spot, friendly owners, great views. Hardstanding pitches with EHU & water. Basic but clean facilities with hot showers. Good value, great for families, dirt bike track a hit. Narrow access. Some say facilities could use an update.

Liked Hardstanding pitch with electric and water on each pitch

Disliked Really tight lanes to get to and a bit out of the way to walk to anywhere with a big motorhome wouldn’t want to be going in and out of lanes

Liked Unfortunately we only liked when it was time to leave.

Disliked This is our experience.

Booked this site last minute as a stop over

Did not enjoy our stay, no one to greet us, not a message to advise there would be no one to greet, found our own way about. Made arriving very awkward.

Parked up on a concrete slab.

Wanted a shower after we arrived. For anyone who doesn’t like spiders this will be your worst nightmare showers all webs and spiders, was great.

There was also mud on the shower floors.

Went to the toilet bugs everywhere, would it be hard to clear the webs etc while the facilities are being cleaned?

Kids up till late kicking a ball on the concrete slab, hit off our van,

No site rules.

I’ve stayed on a farm site before but this was the worst.

The site is based on a kids bike track, which wasn’t made clear while booking, for anyone wanting a peaceful bug free night id book else where!

£25 for the night is not worth it, I paid £27 the night before at another site and the experience was fantastic. Save your money and book elsewhere.

Liked Nice and quite, lovely views as on a hill, even though a working farm with animals, showers worked but not steady hot water as on a timer, toilets ok, all could do with a freshen up, owner and family friendly and helpful, electric hook up and water points near by

Disliked Nothing really, just be aware of tight country lanes whether campervan or motorhome

Liked Lovely little stop on our campervan holiday.
Level pitch. Toilet and shower block. Lovely park for our little one.
Has a motorbike track indoor and outdoor, which my little boy loved watching. Owners are happy for you to play on it with a peddle bike when they are not using it for motorbikes. The motorbikes were also electric when we went to watch, so you couldn’t hear a thing.
Beautiful view of Dartmoor.

Disliked Tricky road up to the site but worth it.
Showers are great but they are on a timer, they go off after around 5 minutes and won’t come back on for about 2 minutes, so me who puts conditioner in her hair and leaves it for a few minutes before washing it out … I was stood there waiting for them to come back on.
But these aren’t really dislikes, more just an FYI.

Liked Hardstanding was good especially with it raining. Good winter pitch but we were staying in the summer and it's basically a silage pit without a roof.

Disliked Showers were cold for duration of timer and wouldn't turn back on so had to change cubicles.
There was also dried up dog muck outside toilet by showers and if we hadn't seen it in the daytime we would have trodden in it at night.
No actual signage as such to say where ti park, first half of the site was being used as a car park by the farm.

Local attractions

Well-behaved pets can expect a warm welcome at Wheeldon Farm, with daily walks (or swims) available a short walk away from site at the river Avon. This peaceful spot is just at the end of the green lane that crosses the site, while further afield in the South Hams there's a range of dog-friendly beaches and walking trails to explore. For woodland walks, you might want to take them to Haldon Forest Park (35 minutes' drive), where there's also a Go Ape high ropes course and mountain biking trails for the humans. If you've brought kids instead of canines, you might like to take them off to Woodlands Family Theme Park (10 minutes), to see the animals at Paignton Zoo (30 minutes) or to check out what's swimming at the National Marine Aquarium in Plymouth city centre (30 minutes). Other must-see attractions in the surrounding area include Totnes (15 minutes), an attractive and unusual market town with a hilltop castle, Dartmouth (25 minutes), an important naval centre with estuary cruises and attractive historic fortifications, and Salcombe (30 minutes), a swish seaside resort surrounded by sandy beaches.
