What customers say
Great spot for a peaceful break with awesome lake views and wildlife. Good pitches, clean facilities, friendly staff. Cafe/playground a bit of a walk. Some found showers lacked privacy with groups. Ideas for improvement: bigger shop, fridge, better dog control.

Arrived on site and asked about…
Powered concrete slab caravan site
Liked Arrived on site and asked about launching efoil on lake as only reason we booked this site, we're informed that they are not allowed even though its an electric motor and not fuel motor, doesnt say anywhere on pitch up website where i booked or on the south west lakes website that efoils are not permitted on roadford lake we had used an efoil on stithians lake in south Cornwall last year so this rule isn't across the board. I asked at reception if we could get a partial refund so we could find and pay for somewhere else near the coast we could take the efoil and was told the manager wasn't there until sunday (it was friday) and its highly unlikely we would get one anyway at short notice. So we were stuck in a place with nothing around us and nothing to do as we came specifically to efoil. The facilities were very basic like a rugby club changing room and very dirty (photos included) considering there was only 4 fully equipped caravans there and no one on the lake and using the facilities (i didnt bump into one person during the whole stay) it was clearly just not cleaned properly and not down to volume of people using them . The showers were luke warm which was horrible and sometimes ran very hot and then freezing cold. I made sure there was free WiFi when I booked and this was false as there was NO WiFi at all at any point during the stay even though I asked the reception for the password it wouldnt connect and the lady asked at the desk it probably wouldnt. The lake was currently having an algae bloom which wasn't noted on website when I booked so the dogs couldn't go in the water which they normally love and you couldn't even hire a SUP and go in for fear of getting water in your mouth and becoming ill.

Peaceful, great views, nice staff
Powered grass campervan or tent site
Liked Helpful staff member who sorted a booking issue fast and with no issues, the stunning view, the amount of amazing wildlife (geese, rabbits, and lots of different birds!!), the tranquility
Disliked the toilets/showers felt like being back at PE at school. they worked fine though! but as the facilities were shared with kids doing activities, i felt a bit weird as a grown woman in there, as did my partner in the men’s.

Powered grass campervan or tent site
Liked The site was very quiet, peaceful. The lake was beautiful. We really enjoyed watching the wildlife, especially the rabbits!
The facilities were clean, no complaints.
Disliked I wish there was a fridge available for use and a playground. The photos are somewhat misleading showing the playground at the cafe which isn’t walking distance with children. You have to drive there, albeit not far, it’s still inconvenient.

Liked Stunning views, quiet location. Excellent pitch, access to nice walks. Peaceful.
Disliked I look for sites that are dog friendly and stipulate dogs on leads only which this site was advertised as and has several signs stating the fact, having a reactive dog myself who is always on lead non aggressive but can feel threatened when approached by another off lead dog, our neighbours left and right completely disregarded this rule, despite the dog running over to my van constantly and being barked and growled out she continues to let her dog off free on its own to run around the entire field of pitches, the dog also chased a child on a bike who fell off scared, the owner apologised but still continued not to put her dog on lead, Although this isn’t the owners fault directly I do think they should be aware and have wardens checking the site and the that guests are respecting the rules, it’s not for other campers to have to report as it could cause animosity which isn’t the guest responsibility, as it was we had to sit inside and not outside due to this.

Excellent site, well spaced out, good facilities.
Unpowered grass motorhome, tent or trailer tent site
Liked Great site, stayed on an all grass pitch in our 7m motor home, plenty of space, not squeezed at all. Lake was amazing, hired a boat and fished all day. Friendly, helpful staff - we’ll definitely stay again.
Disliked Quite a bumpy road/route to get there in our large van but manageable. Café is fab but fair walk to get there from the site. Apart from that highly recommended
