Roadford Lake Campsite

Μου άρεσε We loved the peace and quiet. Site clean and tidy. Showers could do with a bit of attention so water doesn’t pour out of the button you press to operate. The field along side pitch 3 was such a bonus for the children to play

Μου άρεσε The campsite is lovely and spacious, the showers are a little cold especially at night. If you plan to paddle that's quite expensive as it's a daily rate and not a 7 day pass as stated on the website, it was £16 a day per paddle board to self launch, which becomes costly when there are 3 of you paddling. There is a small climbing rock for the children but no park unless you drive to the otherside of the lake otvwalk about half an hour (much longer with younger children) overall it was a relaxing stay but if you looking for adventure not much to do in the area or campsite without crazy prices.

Μου άρεσε Great size pitches in grass /electric area. Caters for lots of different water sports. Was extremely well organised with no fuss. The location was spectacular, as the name suggest it’s on a huge dammed lake . The wildlife was amazing.

Δεν μου άρεσε White shower block could do with a clean. Shower was like a leisure centre. Trying to stop the dogs going in the lake

Μου άρεσε We stayed in the overflow field which was ok - hope to book earlier to get in the main camp site if i stayed again . Good toilet block nice and clean and great showers - stayed for the SUPBIKERUN weekend well organised and loved Pizza wagon on site

Μου άρεσε Quiet site, close to the lake, really friendly staff. Facilities not glamorous but perfectly fit for purpose.

Μου άρεσε Amazing location....absolutely peaceful place.

The staff were the best....I had been auto alloted a pitch which was little off the lakeside and towards the jungle, we really wanted to have the lakeside view. We requested the staff if there was any possibility to change the pitch for us. The lakeside pitch was already booked but as it was bit late, the staff went ahead and called the customer who had booked the pitch, got a confirmation that they cannot come due to their car breakdown....and hence finally offered us the pitch.

I really appreciate that the staff went out of their way to help.....Excellent Job Done!!

Even though the campsite had loads of activites on paper, I didn't see much happening (although I would anyways not have done any)...and as this was a fairly secluded place, there was nothing else to do...

But this NOTHING to do was the BEST part of the campsite!!

This enables one to just sit back and relax and enjoy doing NOTHING!!
I loved this aspect and would place this above many other where you have a checklist of things to do and not much to relax!

This site is for those who would like to also enjoy the NOTHING TO DO aspect of time!!

Μου άρεσε Arrived on site and asked about launching efoil on lake as only reason we booked this site, we're informed that they are not allowed even though its an electric motor and not fuel motor, doesnt say anywhere on pitch up website where i booked or on the south west lakes website that efoils are not permitted on roadford lake we had used an efoil on stithians lake in south Cornwall last year so this rule isn't across the board. I asked at reception if we could get a partial refund so we could find and pay for somewhere else near the coast we could take the efoil and was told the manager wasn't there until sunday (it was friday) and its highly unlikely we would get one anyway at short notice. So we were stuck in a place with nothing around us and nothing to do as we came specifically to efoil. The facilities were very basic like a rugby club changing room and very dirty (photos included) considering there was only 4 fully equipped caravans there and no one on the lake and using the facilities (i didnt bump into one person during the whole stay) it was clearly just not cleaned properly and not down to volume of people using them . The showers were luke warm which was horrible and sometimes ran very hot and then freezing cold. I made sure there was free WiFi when I booked and this was false as there was NO WiFi at all at any point during the stay even though I asked the reception for the password it wouldnt connect and the lady asked at the desk it probably wouldnt. The lake was currently having an algae bloom which wasn't noted on website when I booked so the dogs couldn't go in the water which they normally love and you couldn't even hire a SUP and go in for fear of getting water in your mouth and becoming ill.
