  • Countryside park on 500 acres, 15 minutes' drive from Woolacombe
  • Woodland walks, nature trails, pool and riding centre on site
  • Five camping fields and five spacious amenities blocks
Life’s little stresses getting you down? Want to stow yourself away for a countryside break where everything is close to your pitch? Come along to Combe Martin’s Stowford Farm Meadows in north Devon for a bit of de-stressing in a rural setting: the park is a mile from the main road down its own private drive and is a well-placed base from which to explore the best of Devon. Set among 500 acres of Devon woodland and meadows, Stowford Farm Meadows falls into the category of ‘very large’ sites – but fear not if your tastes tend towards the more solitary, as the park is divided into five separate camping and caravan fields and feels like several small sites rolled into one. The overall size means there are heaps of facilities and activities for you to try your hand at, from cantering around on horseback with the help of the on-site riding centre, to driving the kids crazy with your swish moves at the crazy golf. Looking for something a bit quieter? There are marked woodland walks into the wildlife-rich Bittadon valley, with nature trails starting and finishing on site. A heated indoor pool is available for a small extra charge. For putting feet up or letting hair down, the site has two bars (with evening entertainment in peak season) and an on-site takeaway. For supplies, Stowford Farm Meadows has a licensed well-stocked shop and for your caravan and camping accessories. And finally? Even the dog will de-stress here, with a friendly welcome and a spacious dog-walking area on site…

Liked: Toilets and showers were clean and tidy.

Disliked: The pitches were all on a slope. The bars and food takeaway facilities were closed on half the days we were their. There were signs about keeping dogs on leads but lots of the dogs were not on leads. Dog waste bins were overflowing. If we had known that the woodland walk was so steep and slippery in advance we would not have booked to go to this site.

Would take some beating in my opinion, great place until next time.

Liked: The park was well kept clean and tidy, pitch was a good size and debri free, and close to all the facilities needed for our stay. The washroom were very clean and tidy with plenty of hot water for showering not like a few sites we have been to.they were closed for 11/2 hr whilst being cleaned but no shortage of other washrooms to use. Staff at the shop and the chippy were very pleasant and knowledgeable about the local area, i would use this site again, in fact me and my sons are planning to book a stay next year, we are a close family of 14, I would also like to bring the grandchildren to this site seeing how child friendly it is Well done fantastic stay and would recommend

Disliked: We arrived about 20.01 on friday night because of work commitments and traffic and unfortunately the chip shop was closed due to the fact they had ran out of chips, This is very petty but it's the only thing I could say

Liked: Like the fact that everything was very close,we were about the middle of the site but cycled all over the site and everything was in reach. Kids love the parks, play areas etc. The toilets were very clean and the site felt very safe. The kids went off on their own for a while and I wasn't worried at all.

Liked: Great park. Lovely and clean. Toilet/shower blocks were clean with nice hot showers. Site is massive. We stayed in field two the pitch side was excellent. EHU was close to pitch. There quite a few kids parks dotted about the site. We didn't try the onsite pizza and burger bars, must say pizza looked very nice and was very popular. Bar was nice size drinks prices were about average. There was a good selection hot/cold drinks available. We checked out the kids entertainment we had Devon science the younger one enjoyed but my older one not so much. The pool a nice size but not very deep. The on site horse riding was fabulous not over priced too. My little girl loved it. The staff were super cool with the kids and very helpful. The reception staff were very welcoming and helpful. In all was great site.

Disliked: Only things we found that we could say was. The pool does charge to go swimming £3.75 for 1hr per person. You have to book a slot. If like my kids they want to swim every day for me that would be £78.75 for 3 of us to swim for a week stay ouch 😱 . We went last week of school holidays. The on site chip shop was closed all week so was the café. Shame as we would liked a cream tea. The arcade was also closed. I know it's not end of the world but my kids do like ago on the 2p machine if they had any. Last thing the drinking water taste like pool water so I suggested buying bottle water to drink.

Local attractions

The highlights of north Devon are a pebble throw away, with Combe Martin on the doorstep and the famed harbour and seafront of Ilfracombe a few miles away (if you forget your wetsuit, the clever sorts at Stowford sell them in the on-site shop). Take little monsters to the animatronic dinosaurs, train ride and 250 species of wildlife at Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park where they can help feed the lions or see the birds of prey, or along to Exmoor Zoo for yet more specis to see. Not thrilling enough? Let them see stars at the Milky Way Adventure Park with the tallest rollercoaster in Devon, or whirl about the rides and play areas of The Big Sheep.
