Scenic views, lots of space and plenty of peace are what it’s all about at Pendavey View Camping, a well-kept Cornish site with easy access from the A389. When they say ‘view’ here, they certainly mean it – this elevated site among wildflower meadows has 360-degree views of the surrounding green farmland, providing a soothing backdrop to the spacious pitches (each of which is a minimum size of 15 x 20 metres). Of course, this is Cornwall, so there are many more views to take in nearby – and this place is particularly well located for those who’d like to explore the scenery on foot or bikes, as it's within walking distance of the Camel Trail, a traffic-free multi-use trail running along the banks of the river Camel. Access to the trail is via a sloping gradient through grass and woodland, but there’s an alternative way round via the road if you’d like to keep things a bit easier. The trail itself runs for 18 miles, so there’s scope for a good stretch of the legs along there. If you’ve got a dog who just needs a bit of a run around, however, you can use the dog walking field on site, which has grass pathways cut into a field of wildflowers. Energetic kids, meanwhile, can play ball games at the large grassy area set aside specifically for this purpose. Things are fairly simple on site here, with little to distract from the peace and scenery, but guests will have access to toilet and shower facilities. A cosy village pub is a few minutes’ walk away, and the towns of Wadebridge (five minutes' drive) and Bodmin (about 10 minutes’ drive away) are both good places to find shops and places to eat.

Stunning views and super-clean new facilities get a big thumbs up. Lots of space on well-kept pitches. Bit of a trek for non-campers due to the hilly, rural spot, and getting out and about's tough. Initial power/loo roll issues sorted swiftly by a responsive manager.

Liked Had a great 3 night stay. Weather was great, minus a short rain shower. Toilet and shower were very clean and new. The toilet did stop flushing, loo roll ran out and a swing broke. However! A quick text to the owner meant that it was very quickly resolved and back to working order. Lovely and peaceful, my daughter and dogs loved it. We all did! Would definitely return. Thanks for a great stay!

Liked The views were outstanding. Toilets and showers were immaculate. Owner very kindly txt me the directions. Also, she said we could park where we wanted. We had our own bench table and fresh water tap.

Disliked Unfortunately it was too rural and very high up for us and not on a bus route! Once our camper is parked up, we rely on our bikes to get about but being in our 60's we would have worn our breaks out going down and killed ourselves trying to get back up. Very very hilly. We wanted to cycle the Camel trail and thought by the description on their site info that the trail was accessible. Spoke to another camper who informed us that the slightly sloping grass track down was definitely something they wouldn't tackle on foot or bike and the roads were far too hilly and very narrow. If a car was coming you had to stop and get right in the edge. We decided against it. So, unfortunately we were stuck in a field for the duration. Good job weather was OK.

Liked Lovely view, nice big field so you can have some space. Plenty of taps so you don't have to walk far for water. Toilets nice and clean. Close to Wadebridge.

Disliked Although clean, the toilets let in lots of water when it rains soaking the toilet paper. They also ran out of loo roll when I was there so maybe suggest a few more regular checks of the toilet block.

Liked Views from the campsite were amazing . The peacefulness was great with really large pitches. The cleanliness was superb and a well kept site.

Disliked Power to the loo’s/ showers was not working on one of the nights so unable to use. Signage to the campsite was non existent so had to ask a local for directions. Postcode takes you to the farm not the campsite.
