Good morning campers

  • Dog-friendly site, 25 minutes’ walk to dog-friendly Perranporth beach
  • A 20-minute drive to Newquay; 40 minutes to Eden Project and Flambards
  • On-site bar and kitchen, plus acres of space for games
Keen to explore the north Cornwall coast? Anchor down at the family-friendly Anchor Barrow Campsite, with lovely views over the Cornish countryside and the coast a short stroll away. This location is an excellent one for seaside stays – the three-mile beach at Perranporth is about five minutes’ drive away, or you can access the sands and the town’s amenities via three footpaths that run from the site (or from the bus stop just outside the site). Other Cornish hotspots like Newquay, Gwithian and St Ives are within easy reach too, should you fancy venturing further afield. Back at base, there’s a fine collection of facilities to make life easy and comfortable. All the basics are covered here: the bathrooms are modern and immaculately kept, and guests also have access to a launderette, a washing-up area and a kitchen corner with communal fridges/freezers and a microwave. On top of that, there are secure device charging lockers, a car charging port (extra charge) and a large secure paddock where dogs can have a run around. If it’s the kids that need a run around, that’s no issue – this site has acres of green space for playing, along with a full-size football pitch for more organised games. Meanwhile, if it’s relaxation time that you’re after, that’s easily sorted too. Anchor Barrow has an on-site bar selling a range of Cornish ales, ciders and spirits, and a kitchen that serves up breakfasts and coffees every morning and hosts fabulous feast nights on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. All feast nights are accompanied by a local musician. If you’d rather go down the self-catering route you can bring or hire firepits, with wood available from the site shop (which also sells various essentials and Cornish goodies). A large indoor barn space has seating if it’s not outdoor dining weather.

Liked Fantastic site! All the things you need and loads of extras. Loved the onsite coffee & breakfast options, great food choices for evenings too, music nights and lovely areas for eating & drinking. Clean and great shower/toilet facilities, washing up area and laundry too. Very helpful team on site plus shop for the essentials. Bus stop right outside too. Very spacious and lots of room to spread out.

Disliked Nothing really!

Liked Amazing campsite with stunning views and friendly staff; the lady who welcomes you at check in is an asset to the team and provides you with a walk round of the facilities, nothing is too much trouble!
Showers are excellent, powerful with large rose heads so you can fully shampoo and shower with ease. Ample showers/toilets and there was even baby changing available within the main blocks.

This campsite really goes the extra mile, with the options of feast nights, live music, food and breakfast offerings! The barrow bar was one of our highlights complemented with live music 🎶 and there is a nice addition of the barn with power supplies, game and table tennis all free to use. There is a small campsite shop selling essentials

Great bus service with stop right outside of the campsite which we used numerous times within our stay.

Thank you for a wonderful stay, we cannot wait to visit again! X

Liked The site was very up to date, the facilities were very good and clean, food was good, having the barn to go in for us was good as we went in a small tent so not much room, load of staff about and only a 15-20 mins walk to the beach. Was a pitch were you like site but they do recommend staying a fair distance from other campers and that music goes off by 10, the site is on top of a hill so winds can be quite strong at times but our tent survived and we slept well.

Price was great for us in August on a non electric pitch but the site has sockets in the barn and all around the site that are free to use so bring chargers and leads.

freezer was brilliant to keep our ice packs frozen and the washing up areas were good.

Showers and toilets were some of the best I've seen, shower was lovely and hot.

Liked In a nutshell everything... in more detail the campsite offers the perfect balance of having facilities and events on site without feeling too busy or taking you too far away from the camping experience. The food is lovely and the addition of a bar with singers/artists on the weekend means that if you don't want to venture into perranporth for evening entertainment you don't have too. Equally Perranporth is a lovely walk 20mins down through the fields and is a really nice little town. Every member of staff we spoke to at the camp were friendly and helpful. The facilities were modern and very well maintained and there was enough space for the pitches that you didn't feel cramped in. It was also completely dog friendly.

Disliked Absolutely nothing.

Liked 🌟 **Anchor Barrow Campsite – A Hidden Gem in Cornwall!** 🌟

We stayed at Anchor Barrow in our T5 campervan and honestly, it was one of the best campsite experiences we've had. From the moment we arrived, the vibe was incredible—laid-back, friendly, and full of good energy.

Facilities Spotlessly clean and modern. The bathrooms were immaculate, and everything from the washing-up area to the communal kitchen was well thought out and maintained.

The feast nights were a real highlight! Delicious options all around, and as vegans, we were thrilled to find genuinely tasty plant-based dishes that didn’t feel like an afterthought.

The atmosphere was electric, with local musicians bringing the perfect soundtrack to our evenings. It felt like a mini festival every night.

Plenty of space, easy access, and a peaceful setting was the perfect base for exploring the Cornish coast.

If you're looking for a campsite that blends comfort, community, and a touch of magic—Anchor Barrow is it. We’ll definitely be back!

Liked Anchor barrow is a lovely, clean well run campsite with magnificent views. The bar and evening entertainment was an extra special touch. They serve breakfast and evening food which was all delicious and the staff were all lovely and work so hard to make sure people are enjoying their stay. I would thoroughly recommend.

Local attractions

Once you’ve got to grips with the waves at Perranporth beach, make your way to Newquay (20 minutes’ drive) for some of Cornwall’s most famed surfing spots, including Fistral beach. While in town, you could also visit Newquay Zoo and the Blue Reef Aquarium for some animal encounters, or hurtle down some waterslides at Waterworld Leisure Centre. If you’ve had your fill of ocean air, you can swap beach ambles for woodland wanders with a stroll around the 250-acre Tehidy Woods country park (20 minutes). Dogs are welcome here and, with more than nine miles of path to plod, there’s plenty of peaceful woodland and pretty lakes to explore. Dogs can also accompany you to Trelissick Garden (25 minutes) – while they’re not allowed inside the house or gardens, they can tag along on roams of the surrounding parkland, including the three-mile Woodland Walk circuit. Speaking of gardens, a visit to the Eden Project (40 minutes) is a must while in Cornwall – the huge indoor rainforest has all sorts of spectacular greenery and plants to see, as well as exhibitions and events for the whole gang. For more family days out, there’s Lappa Valley Steam Railway (20 minutes), Paradise Park and JungleBarn wildlife sanctuary (half an hour) and Flambards theme park (40 minutes). Closer to base, a trip to Healey's Cornish Cyder Farm (10 minutes) comes with tours, tractor rides, farm animals and, of course, tastings – there are fruit juices for the kids to try, while grown-ups can sample ciders and wines.
