Acorn Camping and Glamping: Pitches on site

General

  • Environmentally friendly site in the Luxulyan Valley
  • A mile from the Eden Project
  • Workshops, wildlife walk and communal firepit

Acorn Camping and Glamping, in Cornwall’s Luxulyan Valley, is an artfully environmentally friendly site with workshops to pique your interest – and it's only a mile from environmentally excellent days at the famed Eden Project too.

Budding scholars, get ready to blossom. You could learn sculpture carving or indulge your inner clown by picking up circus skills, including aerial workshops in the site's own woodland… Kids can scavenge about on a woodland hunt and learn how to make dens and build fires – and fiction fans of all ages can listen enthralled to the storyteller who visits in summer.

The Luxulyan Valley is a World Heritage Site with Acorn Camping and Glamping at its heart near Par: expect seven acres of meadows and woodland, a private woodland walk, an abundance of wildlife and a network of waterside walks, all centrally placed to some of Cornwall’s most famed attractions.

As a tiny back to basics site, it’s Par for the course that Acorn allows campfires: blocks are available to stand barbecues on and the communal firepit takes care of cooking (pick up some logs from the site owners). Facilities include toilets, hot water showers, hot-water washrooms and a washing-up area with cold water. Only logs are sold on site, but a shop and a pub are a mile and a half away.

Pitches are on a gently sloping three-quarters of an acre: park at the site entrance and offload your gear on the trolleys provided to get to your pitch.

Sorry but, because of the local wildlife, Acorn Camping and Glamping can’t accept dogs.

Please note

No cars/motorcycles at the site. All cars must be parked in the designated area.

Facilities/activities including woodland activities & workshops are subject to extra charges payable on arrival.

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

The campground/park caters for families (immediate members) and couples only - bookings from all other forms of groups are not accepted.

No bachelor/bachelorette parties permitted via Pitchup.com.

We loved it so much. It feels like being in Shire. Beautiful nature, peaceful and serene. Huts are lovely and charming. My daughter played being a fairy and she enjoyed all the little decorations around the place which add a touch of magic. It is very close to Eden project and Fowey which are both worth visiting. We are definitely coming back again!!

Good facilities provided , our own shower and toilet for our hobbit hut , all cooking items supplied so no need to bring anything with you, nice and secluded area for our hut so that we weren’t disturbed

    Disliked:

Would have been nice if the owners had contacted us beforehand to let us know which hut we were in as we ended up traipsing round the whole site trying to find our hut

Also the road leading in and out is very dark and narrow so we always tried to make it back to the site before darkness hut

No phone signals and no wifi which I had no problem with but caused an issue for the kids and did cause a problem when trying to make plans with our family who lives closed by as they couldn’t get hold of me - some sort of wifi would be good to make up for poor phone signals

Better facilities to charge phones would have been a big help

The showers and toilets cleaned regularly, the communal campfire is great for a chat with other campers, can buy wood from the site owners which is reasonably priced, the site is safe for children to explore, very near Eden Project. This is now our 3rd visit to this wonderful campsite, and will come again.

What a wonderful beautiful campsite. Very friendly and helpful owners who seem to go out of their way to make every customer happy.

Well maintained grounds and not a piece of plastic in sight which is perfect for a nature/natural environment. The shower facilities were perfect for camping and we were pretty close to amenities.

Would definitely go back and recommend.

Directions

From the A390 in St Blazey take the road opposite the Gulf petrol station New Road leading to Prideaux Road (the site is 1.5 miles from this point). Take the next right signposted Prideaux. Go through the hamlet and along the width restriction road; 400m down the hill pull into field entrance on the right where you will see a small Acorn sign on a rock.

However if you're coming from the A30, from the A30 follow the signs to The Eden Project. At the Eden Project roundabout, take a left, next right, next left and left again, and the site is 400m along, as above.

Local attractions

Cornwall has hundreds of miles’ worth of walking and cycling trails, but a fine place to start is on the Saints Way, five minutes’ walk from Acorn – it’s a belter of a trip, even if you only do a few of its 27 miles (ideally those that deliver you to the Eden Project). Take to two wheels to cover local cycle trails such as the Camel Trail from Padstow or the gentler trip from the site to Luxulyan village; from here you can take the trains that run from Par to Newquay.

Five minutes in the car brings you to Cornwall’s south coast – the nearest beach is three miles away but you might also like to go dolphin and seal spotting from Mevagissey, or take the kids to one of the many family attractions around the coast like the Wingz Bird and Animal Sanctuary at Par.

National Trust houses and gardens are plentiful in Cornwall too: Falmouth’s Trebah Gardens should be a hit for all ages, and one of the very-must-sees in Cornwall is St Austell’s Lost Gardens of Heligan.

Must see

  • Eden Project (2.5 kilometres)
  • Lost Gardens of Heligan (11.6 kilometres)
  • Cornwall's Crealy Great Adventure Park (18.8 kilometres)

National Trust

  • Trerice (21.9 kilometres)
  • Carnewas and Bedruthan Steps (23.9 kilometres)
