  • Peaceful site in the countryside with spacious dog-friendly pitches
  • A five-minute drive from Holywell Bay; 10 minutes from Newquay
  • Barbecues are welcome; short drive to the South West Coast Path
What might be on your packing list for lovely Little Oak Cornwall Holidays? At this peaceful site in the Cornish countryside, a bicycle will be most handy for gentle afternoon-long pedals through the local area and hiking boots essential too (given that the South West Coast Path is just a short drive away
) With all of those stunning world-famous surfing beaches awaiting in Newquay too, and only 10 minutes’ drive away from the site, you can’t go wrong with a surfboard. Bring along your paddleboards and kayaks (or hire them locally) to explore the Atlantic coast or the Gannel Estuary 10 minutes’ drive away. There are so many Cornish beaches nearby that you might feel tempted to start tossing a coin to decide where to go next
or just opt for the closest pick, which is stunning Holywell Bay five minutes’ drive away. Fistral beach in Newquay, 15 minutes’ drive away, is home to the International Surfing Centre, and almost a rite of passage for keen surfers. If you’re more inclined to spend your break sampling the local cuisine (or you’d at least like to do that post-surf or post-swim), sign up for some cider tasting at Healeys Cornish Cyder Farm (15 minutes’ drive) or grab a Cornish cream tea at the Callestick Ice Cream Parlour (15 minutes). All the necessary facilities for outdoorsy breaks are on-hand at Little Oak Cornwall, you’ll be happy to hear. There’s a shower and toilet block, and if you’ve got your own barbecue to add to your packing list, bring it along too. For tasty eats, stroll 20 minutes to Cubert village, where there’s a shop, post office, bakery and fish and chip shop. Holywell Bay has two pubs serving food and Crantock (10 minutes’ drive) has three more and a village shop. There are supermarkets, restaurants, takeaways and shops in Newquay.

Unpowered grass tent site

Liked: It was a very quiet, out of the way camping site. Each pitch is spacious- clearly the owners are more about quality rather than cramming loads of people in which is great. The toilets/shower blocks were incredibly good and well maintained. Running water, proper toilets, toilet roll, mirrors, literally like having an en suite.

Unpowered grass tent site

Liked: A beautiful, quiet, and rural pop-up campsite just a 12-minute drive from Newquay town and the beach. The plots are extremely spacious, and the showers and toilets are absolutely gleaming! The camping field is well-maintained and offers stunning views of the Cornish countryside. The owners are friendly and helpful. Will definitely stay again!"

Unpowered grass tent site

Liked: The owner of the land was lovely, she really made me feel comfortable their, I relieved clear instructions with a map of the site. The showers and bathrooms are lovely. I hiked the whole coast of Cornwall recently and this was the only shower that didn't have a timer which I loved.

Unpowered grass tent site

Liked: Fantastically spacious pitches. Well kept short grass. Incredibly clean facilities. Very basic but that is why we loved it 😊 Lots of room for the kids to run around.

Disliked: Constant music from other guests on site. Mainly groups of younger people partying. The music did stop at the 10pm curfew though. Maybe I’m just getting old but it was very difficult to get our 2 and 4 year old to sleep because of the noise.

Local attractions

Which beach first? Will it be Crantock beach (10 minutes’ drive), a scenic spot with sheer cliffs and access to sand dunes and the Gannel Estuary? Little Towan beach (15 minutes) near Newquay harbour? Perhaps you’ll like the sound of Perranporth Beach (15 minutes), famous for its big swells, rockpools and pub. Or perhaps the two-mile strolls along Watergate Bay (20 minutes)? If you’re on the lookout for family activities instead, Newquay (10 minutes’ drive) has a leisure centre, zoo, bouncy castle, fun park, aquarium, trampoline park, a lake with seasonal boat hire and a miniature golf course. A steam train ride at Lappa Valley (10 minutes) is always a lovely idea too. Something else? The National Trust’s Trerice (15 minutes) is a Tudor manor house. See the feathery creatures at the Screech Owl Sanctuary (25 minutes) too.
