  • Modest family-friendly site just outside the Lizard Heritage Coast
  • Walking distance from Gweek’s boatyard and the Cornish Seal Sanctuary
  • Café, pub and shop in the village, 5 minutes' walk away
Grab your family gang and get on down to Gweek Campsite, an environmentally-friendly site just outside of Cornwall’s Lizard Heritage Coast. It’s a modest affair here, best as a base for families, but you won’t be short on things to do, because Gweek village is under 5 minutes’ walk away and its boatyard is a buzzy little place, with canoeing and paddleboarding trips available and the Cornish Seal Sanctuary in the village to see seal pups. As you can tell, Gweek is an attraction in its own right – it's at the highest point of the Helford estuary and it’s a fine place to dine on some proper food. The pub serves food and there’s a café and shop too, so you shouldn’t have trouble finding most supplies. There are more handy places within five miles of the site, beginning with Helston’s supermarkets (10 minutes’ drive) and a health food store. There’s especially alluring food in the Potager Garden (10 minutes), which has a plant nursery and workshops. Then, there’s the RNAS Culdrose Public Viewing Area (five minutes) to watch aircrafts making their rounds. There are hot showers on site, which is particularly convenient for rinsing off after a day spent at one of Cornwall’s beaches – there are several within 15 minutes’ drive of the site.

Pitch A powered concrete and grass tent, campervan or trailer tent site

Liked We love the gentle, simplicity of this site. Only pitches and paths are cut. Wildlife is plentiful. The owners clearly aim for us to have the minimal impact on the environment. All the facilities are clean with eco friendly products available to use.
Most importantly it’s very relaxing. We love staying here, it’s our forth visit, and looking forward to our next visit.

From the manager: Thanks for lovely review! Great to see you again, thanks for choosing us again :)

Powered concrete and grass tent, campervan or trailer tent site

Liked Sympathetic site to nature. Gentle atmosphere, spaced out pitches around the edge of the field with mowed paths. Grateful for the availability of fire pits, phone charging packs, central fridge and freezer.

Disliked Nothing.

Powered concrete and grass tent, campervan or trailer tent site

Liked A lovely site with lots of thoughtful extras such as power-banks to borrow, a fridge and freezer free to use and hammocks to hang out in. The showers were great and facilities were well thought out. Gweek is just 10 minutes down the hill which is really pretty with an amazing shop and nice pub

Disliked Maybe the bins and scrap to be reused could be screened away

From the manager: Thank you !

Unpowered grass tent site

Liked Campsite was really quiet and safe for kids to run around and play and just be kids. Little playground and trampoline were nice extras for the kids. Toilets, showers and washing up areas were clean. Nice little walk to take the dog.

Powered concrete and grass tent, campervan or trailer tent site

Liked Lovely family friendly campsite!
Big pitches, clean facilities, lovely eco friendly products provided (washing up liquid and soap/shampoo in bathrooms). Overall a really great, quiet and friendly site!
Our young kids had a lovely time playing with other children and on the trampoline and slide available, felt very safe. Lovely space with hammocks to relax.
Village has lovely shop, pub, cafe and seal sanctuary, all of which we used and loved.
Thank you very much!

Disliked The local navy base does do a fair amount of night helicopter flying so take earplugs if you're a light sleeper!

From the manager: Many Thanks

Local attractions

Cornwall does wild and sublime well, and with fishing and tourism so key to the area, you won’t be far off many of Cornwall’s top attractions. It all comes down to how far you want to go. Flambards Theme Park (10 minutes' drive) is particularly close by for all manners of rides, and beaches are all about, including the sandy Gunwalloe Church Cove Beach (15 minutes), surf central Kennack Sands (20 minutes) and the particularly pretty Kynance Cove (half an hour), managed by the National Trust. With connections to the Celts, legends and other histories, Cornwall’s not short on history either. For one, Pendennis Castle (half an hour) has war weapons displayed at its splendid spot looking out over the coast. While you’re that way, dive into Falmouth (25 minutes) – in the literal sense, as diving activities are available here, or there’s snorkelling and sailing to keep to the surface. For some more dramatic views, Trebah Garden (20 minutes) delivers on this front. This sub-tropical garden by the sea is particularly splendid. Of course, there’s Lizard Point (25 minutes) too – as the most southerly point in England, it has properly good views and coastal walks galore.
