  • Small, friendly and family-run site on the north Cornish coast
  • Just over a mile from Crackington Haven; coast path access to beach
  • Local bus stop 50 metres away at the hamlet of St Gennys
You'll be aware, obvs, that a site anywhere near any Cornish coast tends to be among scenery that's pretty terrific. And so it is at north Cornwall's Coxford Meadow Campsite, a small, friendly and family-run site in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty just over a mile from Crackington Haven. Pitch up among countryside and sea views at this peaceful park, where there's loads of green open space, roomy pitches and plenty of scope for play. The beach is five minutes' drive away (or a mile and a half's amble along the fab and famed South West Coast Path), and other fab and famed Cornish destinations like Widemouth Bay, Bude and Boscastle are within 15 minutes' drive. The site is popular with guests – and just right too – who come for the laidback vibe, the splendid scenery, the spacious pitches and the immaculate amenities; the play area in the centre of the pitching field has picked up a few plaudits too. All guests have access to spotless toilets and hot showers, a microwave, and a freezer for ice packs, as well as a pool table in reception for benign or intense family competitions. Getting out and about is easy peasy from here with the beach and the coast path so close, but if you'd prefer to let someone else ferry you around, the nearest bus stop is just 50 metres from Coxford Meadow's entrance at the local hamlet of St Gennys.

Power optional grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked: Having stayed at several campsites over the years the toilets and showers were the cleanest we have come across. Facilities a little dated but exceptionally clean which is what mattered. Hot showers too! The owners were friendly and welcoming and willing to help with anything you may need. The campsite is quite small so it was nice and quiet, no loud music and frivolity until midnight like we’ve experienced before. Pitches are situated around the border of the field with a small football/sports pitch in the centre so you can keep an eye on the children playing from your tent/camper.

Disliked: The shower and toilet cubicles would benefit from a refresh and update.

Power optional grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked: Immaculate pitches and lovely clean facilities Really quiet, which was great for young children to sleep at a reasonable time. This was after wearing themselves out playing with other kids in the play area :) The owners/hosts were fantastic, nothing was too much trouble

Power optional grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked: Coxford Meadow Campsite is truly a hidden treasure for campers seeking a peaceful and well-equipped retreat. From the moment we arrived, we were struck by the meticulous care that has gone into maintaining this campsite. The pitches are not only spacious and perfectly flat, but they also offer plenty of room for setting up camp comfortably, whether you're in a tent, caravan, or motorhome. The layout of the site is thoughtful, with each pitch designed to provide both convenience and a sense of privacy. What really made our stay special was the warm welcome and attentive service provided by the campsite owner. From the outset, we felt like valued guests, and it was clear that the owner takes great pride in ensuring that everyone has a wonderful experience. This personal touch made a big difference, especially for me as a parent traveling with three young children. The owner’s attentiveness extended throughout our stay, and we always felt well looked after. The campsite itself is a perfect environment for families. The clean, open spaces allowed my children to explore and play freely, which gave me peace of mind knowing they were in a safe and secure environment. The play areas, though modest in size, were just right for younger children, providing enough entertainment without being overwhelming. It’s clear that a lot of thought has gone into creating a family-friendly atmosphere here. Despite its small size, Coxford Meadow Campsite is packed with everything you need for a comfortable stay. The facilities are top-notch, with exceptionally clean restrooms and warm, welcoming showers that are a pleasure to use after a day of exploring. The cleanliness of the site as a whole is impressive, and it’s obvious that the owners takes great care in maintaining it to a high standard. The location of the campsite is another highlight. Nestled away in a quiet area, it feels like a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle, yet it’s ideally situated for exploring the stunning regions of Cornwall and Devon. Whether you’re interested in hiking, visiting local attractions, or just soaking up the natural beauty of the area, Coxford Meadow provides a perfect base. In terms of value, this campsite is hard to beat. You get so much more than just a place to pitch your tent or park your caravan; you get a welcoming, well-maintained environment that enhances the entire camping experience. For anyone looking to enjoy a relaxed and family-friendly camping holiday in a beautiful setting, Coxford Meadow Campsite comes highly recommended. We absolutely loved our stay and would return in a heartbeat!

Liked: Absolutely loved it, it was my partners first time camping and she was hesitant about the whole thing, but coxfield meadows absolutely made it an amazing experience for us all, well maintained site not too far from the beach, clean facilities, even a nice little play area and footie pitch for our 2 year old son who had the best at time. The owners were a lovely couple who checked on us each morning, we will most definitely be staying here again!

Local attractions

If you've holidayed here before, you should also be aware that Cornwall's beaches on the north and south side are almost all utterly spectacular, from the lengthy golden stretches of Summerleaze and Crooklets in Bude (each within 20 minutes' drive of the site) to the gentle waters of Looe and the wide sands of Polperro, both around an hour and five minutes away. And then there are the also utterly spectacular sandy specimens deep in Cornwall's west around Land's End: Sennen Cove, Mullion, Kynance Cove, Porthcurno… all within a couple of hours' drive and jolly well worth it too. Just over an hour away, have days at Falmouth (and the National Maritime Museum and must-do boat trips on the River Fal) and Polkerris, for its wide sandy cove, watersports and rockpooling. Coxford Meadow's also fably set for investigating the highlights of Tintagel (25 minutes), Port Isaac (35 minutes), the Camel Trail from Bodmin (45 minutes) to Padstow (55 minutes), and the wide expanses – and possible beast? – of Bodmin Moor (40 minutes).
