Unpowered grass site

Liked: Very friendly and relaxed attitude, super clean facilities. We also found it very cute. Log burners available to hire plus the kindling etc with different ways to pay was a nice touch. Lots of attention to detail

Disliked: Having to go home :)

Unpowered grass site

Liked: Perfectly clean, clearly signposted, friendly people. Endless amounts of room, huge pitches. I was slightly apprehensive about the proximity of the A2, for noise, but you can hardly hear it. We will definitely be coming back. Loved the freedom feel to this site and being allowed to pitch wherever you like. Immaculate facilities. 5* for WiFi despite not using it. Phone signal is fine there.

Disliked: Pitch 30 floods. This was my fault entirely for not thinking it through, we were due heavy rain and we got it. My lack of common sense told me to pitch at the bottom of the site (it’s on a slight hill) and we were waterlogged as the water ran down the hill. No fault of the campsite itself but I hope this helps someone avoid making the same mistake I did!

Unpowered grass site

Liked: Very quiet, nice clean showers. We arrived just too late for the main field but the late night arrival area was fine for a camper. I can't image it would be great for a tent though.

Local attractions

Getting out into Kentish countryside is easy, beginning with a historical sort of trip from Shepherdswell station 10 minutes' walk away. This is a stop on the East Kent Railway, a heritage railway that will shuttle you through the Golgotha Tunnel and Kent countryside. Of course, it’s likely you’ll want to see Dover Castle and the White Cliffs (15 minutes' drive). Margate (35 minutes) is another popular pit stop, with vintage rides at Dreamland as well as the buzzy beachfront. St Margarets Bay (15 minutes) is quieter, but just as splendid. Those of you familiar with the Canterbury Tales – or, in fact, anyone wanting to do a bit of sightseeing – should head to Canterbury (15 minutes) too. Other cool spots? Driving diggers at Diggerland Kent (45 minutes) is high up there. Wingham Wildlife Park (20 minutes) too, especially if you’re an animal fan. Once a favourite haunt of smugglers, and now well suited to those who like the smaller seaside town vibes, is Deal (20 minutes).
