Pitches

  • Peaceful farm site on the edge of 2,000 acres of ancient woodland
  • A mile and a half from Honey Hill and two miles from Blean
  • Direct access to Blean Woods National Nature Reserve
Come and pitch up at Brook Farm Glamping and Camping for days full of strolling, den building and bike riding in Blean Woods, a 2,000-acre national nature reserve that backs directly onto the farm. This small-scale site is an eco-friendly place, with innovative solutions like solar-powered lighting and a composting toilet, plus upcycled washing machines that have been given a second life as barbecues and firepits. There are also cute animals here that the kids can meet, including rabbits, sheep, goats and miniature chickens. There's a good range of facilities on offer here, with well-maintained showers, toilets and a washing-up area. A selection of local produce is also available on site, or for a wider variety of food and drinks you could head to the nearest pub in Honey Hill (five minutes' drive) or to the village stores in Blean (five minutes). Holidays here will probably involve frequent trips to the beach, as Brook Farm Glamping and Camping is 15 minutes from Whitstable and half an hour from Margate by road. There are also inland attractions to explore, including the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (10 minutes) and the historic cathedral city of Canterbury (15 minutes). As long as they're OK with all the other animals that call this place home and are kept on leads, dogs are very welcome to join you at Brook Farm Glamping and Camping.

What customers say

Friendly family spot, handy to towns and woods. Staff, cafe, pizza and animals get a thumbs up. Pitches good. Toilets/showers basic, some cleanliness/water pressure grumbles. Great value, many would return.

Unpowered grass site

Liked Great little campsite. Friend, descent size pitch, lovely coffee hut and pizza oven at weekend.

Disliked Not a dislike, but a note for others, the site is extremely child friendly, which is lovely, just lively! Fun environment.

Could do with a few more toilets and showers, as it got very busy and messy quickly.

Unpowered grass site

Liked Everything, Staff, Pizzas, Cafe.....The location is great for walking into Blean woods. We walked to Staple street to visit the Three Horseshoes, the Red Lion in Hernehill and the Dove at Dargate. All easily accessible with (mainly) off road routes through the woods, fields and orchards. All these pubs are within an hours walk or so from the campsite. You could easily walk to Mount Ephraim Gardens too.

Disliked Nothing at all.

Unpowered grass site

Liked We loved this site. Pitches are nicely laid out with a large space of grass which is kept clear in the middle of the field - allowing for a nice space. Good for families as this gave kids space to play.

The takeaway pizza is a fantastic addition - they were really tasty and worked perfectly with a camp set up. Little cafe was nice too.

Facilities were all clean and I was never waiting.

The owners are clearly working hard to make a good site for the visitors and all the staff were friendly.

It's really close to both Whitstable and Canterbury. Perfect for a short get away in the tent.

Disliked There are plenty of facilities and proper toilets. I thought they could do with a slight upgrade, we struggled with water pressure when washing up and in the shower. However, and to be fair, my wife thought they were suitable and didn't have any issues with them - so it could be my harsh opinion!

That being said, the facilities were all really clean and looked after. This 'dislike' isn't strong enough to stop us returning.

Local attractions

Build a den, follow a trail or fly a kite in the Kent Downs, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty that can be reached in about 10 minutes by road. Next, explore the more carefully managed landscapes on show at Belmont House and Gardens (20 minutes' drive), or prep a picnic for lunch on the beach at Whitstable (15 minutes). A little bit further up the coast, Margate (30 minutes) has art galleries, independent shops and fab contemporary restaurants to explore, while Broadstairs (35 minutes), one of Charles Dickens' favourite haunts, has old-world appeal with its cliffs, Victorian buildings and three separate bays. Away from the coast, Leeds Castle (25 minutes) has an impressive moat, fortress and well-maintained grounds to visit, while Dover Castle (30 minutes) has centuries of maritime history plus tunnels in the cliff face to explore. For more things to see and do, you'll be sorted in Canterbury (15 minutes), a UNESCO World Heritage Site city where top tourist sites include Canterbury Cathedral, St Augustine’s Abbey and the Canterbury Tales attraction, an interactive exhibit that brings Chaucer's stories to life.
