Pond field unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site
Liked: Where do i start... Matt and his whole family and friends are just incredible. From the moment i got there, Matt had the most generous welcome, with great energy and kindness. He sorted out a lander for my fishing, sorted a ride to the shop by his friend James, who also an amazing soul and super kind. Thank you! The campsite is so spacious, i booked the pond area, which were very secluded and quiet far away from the entrance and main road. ( about 10 min walk into the woodland and pond ), this is what you want! Of course it's completely a personal preference, but camping for me is about being in a quiet space, with very few equipment, that just enough to have a shelter, and to make food whilst you camp. The nearest town is about 4 miles away, so if you are staying for a few days, you either need a car, stock up for food etc before, or if you don't mind having a longer walk, that's an option too 🙂 Cowden station is 28 minutes walk away, which is a great distance to reach a campsite from my experience. Luckily, a neighbor picked me up on the way up to the site, which i was also very grateful for 🙂 There's also clean toilets with stocked up toilet paper and soap at all times, also drinking water! Showers are on the field area. Plenty of firepits which you can use, and firewood is also delivered, all you have to do is call Matt, and its sorted! There's a woody cool area for kids to play or for you to have a nice walk in the woodland and enjoy the fresh air! This place is beautiful and the wildlife is amazing, it was a blessing to see baby rabbits and foxes running around 🙂 Let alone huge carps in the pond 🙂 I had a couple of extra request, charging my power bank and some coffee etc... I got everything delivered to my tent shortly after, they would not accept any extra payment, they are just genuine nice people, who i can't wait to go back to visit. And the cherry on top, on my last morning, Matt's lovely wife and daughter, dropped me to the station... I can't thank you all enough for this amazing experience, and can't wait to bring my friends over too. If you like almost wild camping, fishing, open fire, fresh air, far away from everything and to meet with this amazing family, this place is for you. I would give more stars if i could! Thanks guys and see you soon 🙂 Suzy

Farm field unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site
Liked: Stayed on the campsite for 3 nights with young children and teens. It was in a nice location, lots of greenery, local attractions and lots of local pubs and walks.
Disliked: Sadly, the site only had 1 drinking water tap, no way of drying your hands after going to the bathroom, the bins were overflowing and some furry friends enjoyed a rummage. There is no staff office/reception on site so when new campers arrived, the current campers had to do the orientation (which we didn’t mind but also found it strange). The campsite is located in a flight path so planes go overhead late into the night and early morning so pack the ear plugs.

From the manager: Thank you for your comments. Annoyingly, our bin collection didn't happen this week, and after we chased it- discovered it was a 'new driver' who didn't do the pick up as scheduled. They have apologised. We are as annoyed as you, as after a dog had ripped open a bag, we obviously were tasked with clearing it all up! Yes, we don't have a reception- but on our guests confirmation email, it states to call us on arrival, and we come out and welcome guests in. We have the camping phone on at all times. We have previously supplied paper for drying hands, but have found some campers like to pull it all out and decorate the floor with it- and we didn't find this very environmentally friendly. Most campers bring a small towel down to the bathroom, or do the dry shake!
Lovely site and friendly staff so will definitely be back.

Liked: Loved the large open space and variety to pitch up. Absolutely loved the man in the truck dropping round fire stoves as to have that option is great and a nice little touch with the ice cream van coming in.

Pond field unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site
Liked: Field was huge and lovely, very remote, although long lane to get there very bumpy and excessively slippery when wet. Hosts were really nice, very helpful and drove round daily to check all was well and if logs needed.
Disliked: Sadly the few toilets that were there were weren't very pleasant. I'm not sure whether through lack of cleaning or other campers just not caring. Also, we had music blaring until after 11 both nights, I wish people that wanted that would realise a totally remote field is the wrong place.

Liked: We loved the friendly welcoming from staff and the offer for fire wood and fire lighter at a very reasonable price. We really enjoyed our night at the farm, it seemed inclusive with a variation of families, couples and larger groups. The facilities were kept clean and well maintained - we loved the added extra of hot water on this site and a place to do washing up. Overall a very nice place which we will certainly return too.

Liked: Big open space in the pond field with freedom to camp wherever we wanted and can enjoy a campfire. Staff very friendly and welcoming. would come back again
Disliked: run down and basic facilities in the Pond Field site And no showers had to drive to the farm field site to have a shower. internet/phone signal is very limited Poor maintained road/track leading to field hard to access unless you have 4x4 or high ground clearance vehicle

From the manager: Thank you for your feedback. We totally take on board your comments, and are excited to say, we have purchased a new toilet/ shower block to compliment Pond Field. Im sorry it wasn't up and running for your visit but it was delayed due to the annoyingly ongoing wet weather we have been experiencing which obviously inhibits large machines from accessing the fields without making unsightly ruts- and we take pride in our lush rolled fields! We are pleased to see you would visit again, and look forward to you trying out the new facilities and giving us your feedback.
