  • Peaceful site on a Kent family farm, 10 minutes' drive from Sandwich
  • On National Cycle Network route 1; Canterbury 25 minutes' drive
  • Micropub and butcher's shop on site, plus breakfast and morning coffee
You’ll certainly know you’re in the Kent countryside when you stay at Goldstone Camping. Part of the family-run Lower Goldstone Farm, the pitches here are surrounded by gorgeous greenery and have the relaxed rural vibe that comes with a soundtrack of tractors humming in the distance and award-winning cattle pottering about in the neighbouring fields. Stay here and you’ll be bedding down in a peaceful paddock that often sees stunning sunsets and stargazing and has plenty of space for outdoor games, campfires and barbecue evenings. And what tasty barbecue evenings they’re likely to be, with the farm selling its own hand-reared meat at the on-site butcher, ready to hit your grill (plus eggs and other local bits and bobs). As for other tempting treats, you can pick up morning coffee and breakfasts at the on-site Goldstone Brew, in a converted horsebox that also sells burgers in the evenings. At the weekend there's also the option to grab a pint at the farm’s micropub, The Calf and a Half. With lots of options around for walks, bike rides and fishing, this site has all the makings of an excellent rural break. But that’s not all – it’s also only about three miles from here to the Kent coast, putting you within easy reach of beach days, coast walks and popular seaside towns. Sandwich is the closest of these – you can drive to the market town in about 10 minutes or follow the National Cycle Network path, taking you through rural villages to reach the town. Deal, Broadstairs and Ramsgate are all close by too, or you could head inland to explore the historic streets of Canterbury.

What customers say

Peaceful, spacious park with friendly staff (esp. Dave!). Clean facilities, tasty burgers, local pub brews, and fridge-freezers appreciated. Shower water pressure, drainage, and dishwashing sinks could improve. Coffee van hours were a bit vague for some.

Unpowered grass campervan or tent site

Liked The camp site is really beautiful - lovely area for kids to play in, the micro pub was a lovely additional touch.
Very quiet.

Disliked When booking the campsite via Pitchup it was advertised to have a coffee van, this is the case but unfortunately this was not open during our stay and could not find any opening hours to suggest when it does open. As a tired mum of two this was disappointing!

Unpowered grass campervan or tent site

Liked Dave, the on-sight manager was fantastic.
The farm is very laid back and Dave asked if we’d rather have shade of an evening or morning, then letting us pick our pitch.
He helped deliver fire wood, a picnic bench, fire pit and also a generator to blow up our camp bed. He was great and so so helpful.
There is also a fridge/freezer on site which we found ideal. We did have someone take some of our beers out of the fridge and leave on the side but not much you can do about other campers!
Washing up area had one large sink. We could see if there was a queue from our tent so we waited until we walked over.
Onsite food and pub were fab as well.

Disliked Showers and toilets are very basic. Only 2 toilets seemed not enough.
Shop was not open on a Sunday.

Liked Great service, helpful staff, wonderful little pub and coffee truck.

Disliked Small things that could be improved. Showers not having enough water and could get flooded. Would have been good with another washing up sync.

Liked Great weekend away. Would 100% recommend. Very relaxed site.
Campsite Dave was a pleasure and great at keeping us informed about the site and surrounding areas. The new onsite pub the calf and a half servers local beers and ciders, lovely addition and cute set up alongside the burger and coffee van .

Showers and toilets clean. The fridge freezers are also a great addition for keeping food cool on a hot weekend.

Local attractions

Bring your bikes along, because there are some excellent cycling options around here. For child-friendly days out, try the bike paths and play park at Betteshanger Park (15 minutes’ drive); you can hire bikes here if you’ve not been able to bring your own. For longer rides, National Cycle Network route 1 passes by the site and runs all the way to Dover, passing three castles (Deal, Walmer and Dover) as well as the Roman fort at Richborough. Other activities? You can go fishing at Sandwich Coarse Fishery (10 minutes), watch wildlife at Sandwich Bay Bird Observatory Trust (15 minutes) or get a hit of adrenaline at Whitemills Wake and Aqua Park (five minutes). There’s no shortage of beaches, of course – Broadstairs (25 minutes) and Margate (half an hour) for lively options and Sandwich Bay (20 minutes) for something more peaceful. Elsewhere, Canterbury (25 minutes) has heaps of heritage to explore, and the kids may well enjoy a trip to meet all the animals at Wingham Wildlife Park (10 minutes).
