Park setting (added by manager 13 mar 2023)

  • Isle of Wight family park with plenty of organised activities
  • Indoor pool, bar and evening entertainment
  • Kids' club for children up to 11 years old
A lunchtime drink on the terrace of the Boathouse bar watching the white sails of the yachts zipping across the water, a hop and a skip down the leafy path to the beach for the afternoon, or a fun-filled night of live entertainment in the Showbar… there are many ways to relax at Thorness Bay Holiday Park in Cowes. Whippersnappers will love whooshing down the slide into the indoor pool before trying out a bit of snorkelling and rollerblading, and they may disappear for some time into the various kids’ clubs, which offer funtastic activities for kids up to 11. The whole family can get stuck into a range of sports on the all-weather court, and during the organised sessions you could chance your arm at archery or even learn to wield a crossbow. To complement the usual amenities, there’s a shop and laundry room, an outdoor playground for the little ones, amusements, darts and a pool table – and the occasional bingo session thrown in for fun.

Elm powered grass caravan site

Liked: The park is lovely. Camping area is peaceful close to clean toilet block. Welcoming security team. Average review based on dated showers, and lack of maintenance

Disliked: Reception not open. Showers that only stay on for 5 seconds. You have to keep pressing the button. Hairdryers still broken from last year. Hooks missing in showers . No temperature options. No signage to Elm. Signs on pitches faded And small

Liked: nothing

Disliked: I feel really mad at the treatment I had from thorness this holiday as they cancelled my holiday 2 days before we were due to go. as yet I have not had my money back . to add insult to injury I was getting numerous text asking if I was enjoying my holiday.....I have an autistic teenager who can not cope with change , she knows this site so she was coping with going but when we had to make other arangement she had a complete melt down I manaaged to book 2 days at one site and five days at another unfortunatly the stress was too much and we never got to the first site losing that money and only managed 3 nights at lower hyde holiday park. thankfully wightlink was good changing our ferry crossing.

Local attractions

Visitors will find lots of yachts and powerboats to drool over in Cowes harbour, and the town is also home to Osborne House, the country retreat of Queen Victoria and her brood. It’s well worth a nose around this magnificent house and its lovely gardens, and the Victorian afternoon teas aren’t half bad either… Since the Isle of Wight is such a bijou island, it doesn’t take long to reach other top attractions such as Carisbrooke Castle, the posh pile where King Charles I was imprisoned, and the island’s heritage steam railway, which regularly runs themed events. For those who fancy a change from the beach at Thorness Bay, the shallow waters at Colwell Bay beach, about 25 minutes away by car, are great for swimming, as well as watersports such as jetskiing and windsurfing.
