Liked: Site was lovely, little downhill without leveling blocks, but managed ok. Plenty on the site and very laid back and relaxed. Didn't get rushed off our pitch giving us ample.tome to pack away and take our time.

Disliked: Showers were too hot, with no temperature control.

Liked: The location was close to lots of different interesting places to visit.

Disliked: Some tent pitches are unmarked, this led to some confusion when pitching up and regarding spacing. Toilet and shower facilities were poor, especially for the money paid. They were not cleaned regularly and the shower was the worst I’ve ever encountered whilst camping.

Liked: Surface of grass. Pitch layouts. Ambience of site. Ease of booking in. Excellent setting.

Disliked: Litter left on site around where tents were pitched. Edges of fields whilst not full of litter did have lots of paper etc lying around. Scruffiness begats scruffiness but it was obvious that the litter in many cases had been lying there a while. The toilet/shower block on many days was filthy. As there was only a slow hand drier people had left toilet rolls to dry hands on. This was then thrown in toilet, eventually blocking it, and as these blockages continued it was obvious the facility wasn't cleaned very often.

Liked: Nothing

Disliked: *There are no flat pitches on this sight. The pitch we were offered was literally unworkable at a variable degree above 7 in the horizontal meaning sleeping in the camper van would be impossible. Staff know this and intentionally allocate to try and maximize profit opportunity because when we informed them that sleeping would be impossible they immediately offered an alternative …..at 5 degrees! * The site is well beyond end of life and is no longer fit for purpose. There is considerable efforts to try and keep the ablutions clean but the fabrication and decor is beyond superficial repair and no longer viable. * The site is not policed and with only a meter or 2 between pitches music and general conversational noise was beyond what is comfortable. * The entertainment line up advertised was not what was presented. We were refused entry to the early evening kid’s activity because of the dog despite being in there for most of the day (with the dog). All things considered …….it was awful. Never again!!

Disliked: We paid for 2 pitches for us and our parents to enjoy. This did NOT happen. Dogs are allowed in the entertainment one minute, then not the next. So we lost out on using our hub passes as we had nowhere to leave our dog despite the fact the room that the entertainment was in, we took our dog in not 2 hours earlier. Claimed it’s a dog friendly venue when it wasn’t. The shower blocks were disgusting. There was tissue all over the walls, mug streaked all over the floor (or at least what I hope was only mud) we spend 2 nights here and didn’t shower as we felt cleaner not showering than we would if we used the facilities. The toilets were blocked and some even had people’s poo and tissues left without even an attempt at flushing it away. There was only 2 urinals for a section build to house 30+ pitches of families and one of those was blocked so overflowed every time it flushed. Female toilets in the arcade area didn’t lock and the only one that did, my daughter almost got stuck inside because she couldn’t unlock due to it being too stiff. Every single pitch is on a slope and there was no warning of this prior to arriving and we travelled by bike so our motorbike had to be left away from our tent to prevent it falling over. After 7pm there was no staff to complain to at the main desk and the QR code for raising issues was disabled. Only person to contact was security who wouldn’t be appropriate for raising these issues to Inappropriate songs like “wanna take a ride on your disco stick” and performers wearing ultra revealing outfits and performing over sexualised dances when it’s supposed to be a family venue for young children. You claim to have a private beach however there’s multiple signs prohibiting you from swimming or letting your dogs off the lead. Overall this stay has been such a let down and I am disgusted with the standards that the facilities were kept to where me, my wife, daughter and parent in laws preferred not to wash as we felt this option was more hygienic than using your shower block. We missed out on entertainment that was supposed to be a part of the booking due to your illogical rules regarding dogs which seemed to change on the flip of a coin. We will not be returning again.

No toilet rolls in mens and ladies, showers were disgraceful, felt dirtier getting out then when we went in! Deep clean required?? And only two out six ladies toilets in entertainment block toilet locks working! Not ideal! Expected better from a Haven site. We wont be back!

Local attractions

Visitors will find lots of yachts and powerboats to drool over in Cowes harbour, and the town is also home to Osborne House, the country retreat of Queen Victoria and her brood. It’s well worth a nose around this magnificent house and its lovely gardens, and the Victorian afternoon teas aren’t half bad either… Since the Isle of Wight is such a bijou island, it doesn’t take long to reach other top attractions such as Carisbrooke Castle, the posh pile where King Charles I was imprisoned, and the island’s heritage steam railway, which regularly runs themed events. For those who fancy a change from the beach at Thorness Bay, the shallow waters at Colwell Bay beach, about 25 minutes away by car, are great for swimming, as well as watersports such as jetskiing and windsurfing.
