Private slipway

  • Well-equipped Hayling Island site on the banks of a tidal creek
  • Beach a short walk away; drive to Portsmouth in 20 minutes
  • Private slipway for swims, watersports and fishing; café-bar
Heading to Hayling Island with your eye on days nipping in and out of the water? Fishery Creek Touring Park could well be the place for you – this top-notch seaside site is on a tidal creek on the edge of the Chichester Harbour Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. That location is pretty great in itself, but it gets even better when you learn that this site has its own private tidal slipway from which you can launch small boats, kayaks and paddleboards, take a swim or try your luck with a bit of crabbing or fishing for bass. For more days by the water, it’s a short stroll to Hayling Island’s three miles of award-winning beach. It’s not just the beach that’s easy to access from here, though: this location is also well-placed for all sorts of local amenities including shops, cafés, pubs and takeaways (you can’t have a beach holiday without fish and chips now, can you?) And if you can’t muster the energy to walk to any of the above, there’s always the option of the site’s own Galleon café-bar, which serves up tasty food in a comfy and family-friendly setting. Other facilities on site include a large play area, a laundry room and two washing-up areas with hot water; there’s also a smart modern bathroom block with constant hot water and underfloor heating. Each pitch has its own electric hookup, and there are plenty of water points around. It’s not just the human guests that are welcome here – this site makes a strong effort to protect the local wildlife too, winning awards for its biodiversity projects that benefit butterflies and insects as well as native plants.

What customers say

A tidy, welcoming spot by the creek, a stroll from the beach. Staff are praised for being helpful. Facilities are clean but a bit dated. The cafe's a hit. Great for water sports.

Liked Good site nice position with access for sheltered paddle boarding and cycling Nice Staff good bar / cafe Very good visiting catering (Pizza van Hog roast and chip van) only downside is the male toilet and shower facilities which are old dated and scruffy not enough toilets for the size of site always queuing in the morning
Even on the last day when the site wasn’t crowded The showers were generally good but the floor needs a bit of a good clean up to remove older stains and the roof needs something done to remove the black mould! My wife tells me that the ladies were much better

Powered grass and gravel caravan site

Liked A nice peacefull site in a lovely location. 15 minute walk to a beautiful beach. Plenty of local shops if you need supplies and a fantastic little cafe / restaurant on site (calamari and butterfly prawns were delicious) with very helpful pleasant staff. Nice clean showers and toilets. good sized pitches with ample space inbetween each pitch. A really nice site.

Powered grass and gravel caravan site

Liked Nicely situated site with a good little watering hole with good food. 10 minute walk to sea front with pubs and eaterys.

Disliked very disappointed with wash shower and toilet facilities. Going down to facilities and having a shower and then having to walk to another block to do teeth and toilet. Not good

Powered grass and gravel caravan site

Liked Fantastic site, clean and tidy shower blocks and toilets, outside washing up areas, play areas for the kids if you have them also quite a few areas of open grass for games. nice flat pitches we where in the middle of the park did jot need to use leaving blocks on our motorhome.Free WiFi throughout the site, very friendly and helpful staff, lovely setting on the water, you can rent paddle boards for some fun on the water. fish and chip mobile cafe is a must on a Friday night, great food at a very good price plus freshly cooked to order. as was the fresh pizzas van that turns up on a Saturday evening again hand made to order, we have food from both of these both very nice food a reasonable prices. Cafe and bar area on site also offers lots of food and drink options, again reasonable prices.
A nice 10 minute walk following the waters eage gets you to the seaside with some shops and cafes. 15 minute train ride to the other end of a very long beach front is the arcades and funfair.

Disliked Can't think of anything we thought could be better.

Liked Beautiful touring park. Quiet, very organised and well maintained. Lovely shower block with hairdryer. Clean toilets. Good size pitch. The creek and the beach were only a quick walk away. We are going to return without the grandson so we can try some of the other facilities such as the laundry room and fish and chips. Loved it.

Powered grass and gravel caravan site

Liked lovely small site with all amenities required. Warm showers, (although push button release time was too short). Cheerful and helpful staff.
Perfect access to creek at high tide (check times)for swimming/ paddle boarding etc and Simon at Hayling waters port, based on site was very knowledgable and helpful.

Disliked although a nice short walk to the seafront, we found the seafront area a little rundown and grubby although had a great icecream shop.
Campsite good, local area and eating places needing investment as run down

Local attractions

When you fancy a break from all the water activities, there are plenty of other ways to spend a day, including walks or bike rides along pretty countryside trails. The Hayling Billy Trail is one of the most popular of these, running for the full length of the island’s west coast along the route of the old ‘Hayling Billy’ train line. Elsewhere on the island, you might like to hit the rides of Funland amusement park (a half-hour walk away) or take a more sedate trip on the Hayling Seaside Railway, a light railway that runs along the seafront. Leaving the island behind, it’s also easy to do day trips to Portsmouth (20 minutes’ drive) or Chichester (25 minutes), explore woodland trails in the New Forest National Park (45 minutes) or take hikes in the South Downs National Park (half an hour).
