  • Small and friendly family-run site in the New Forest National Park
  • A 10-minute drive to New Forest Water Park; half an hour to the coast
  • Barbecues, wood and fuel sold on site and a pub just down the road
Whether it’s glades, moors or clifftops you've got your sights set on, walking and cycling are quite the treat in the New Forest National Park… and handily, Tom’s Field is a friendly place to start your engine, with New Forest Water Park 10 minutes’ drive away and beaches half an hour away in case you fancy a plunge down into the seaside. This is a small, family-run site, open on weekends and bank holidays only, with the family around the site most of the time so that you can count on a helping hand if you need it. The local community shop visits the site each morning to bring fresh bread and basic groceries and the site also sells wood and barbecue fuel (and hires out barbecues or fire buckets). Of course, you’ll be able to grab any extras you need from the wide range of shops in Fordingbridge, 10 minutes’ drive away. There’s wild swimming in the river Avon here, by the way, so you might want to wear your swimming gear. You won’t have to go off site to treat yourself to some forest scenery either, as the site looks over the woodlands and has access to an open heath and forest land where there are New Forest ponies and cows roaming around. If you’re searching for somewhere to be waited on, the site’s local pub is only 15 minutes’ walk away down the road. There are three more that you can get to with a little longer hike, between 45 minutes’ and an hour’s walk away.

Unpowered grass tent, campervan or trailer tent site

Liked: Loved this campsite, facilities great, pitches lovely size and level. A ice cream van came to visit at 5.30pm which was a treat. There are beautiful forest walks from the campsite, along with a pub in walking distance.

Unpowered grass tent, campervan or trailer tent site

Liked: Very cosy campsite, it's not big which means it didn't feel busy. Toilets and showers was clean, we was camped quite close to the toilets which was useful for a family with a younger child. Check in and out was easy and hiring a fire pit was easy and they gave us enough for 2 days at a reasonable £20. And the locate of the field itself is very central.

Disliked: It's not so much of a dislike as most of the time you didn't notice but the noise from the road could be loud at times (more noticeable at night). Nothing that the campsite itself could change and given the locate its to be expected. It wouldn't deter me from returning but maybe something not everyone would be happy with.

Tina's bell tent

Liked: Lovely little site, right in the New Forest with beautiful views and walks around the area. Super friendly and welcoming team. Clear rules on music and noise so lovely and peaceful at night. We stayed in a bell tent as a treat and the bed was very comfortable and we had loads of space, but will probably head back with our own tent another time as the pitches looked great. Toilets and showers are absolutely 5 star, so clean and well maintained.

Disliked: It's small site so no cafe but they do get a food van in a couple of times a week. Walk to the toilet from the bell tent seems a long way in the night! It is next to a very busy road so there is some road noise during the day.

Unpowered grass tent, campervan or trailer tent site

Liked: It is a perfect spot for worry free, relaxed time for young families and kids. Felt very safe and welcoming atmosphere created by the hosts as well as other guests. Peope were community orientated and friendly so no music, loud parties and disregard for other campers instead a vibing evening around a fire in the good company and nature. The pitches and facilities are well prepared and organised with easy access to water for every pitch and generous size so no issues with overcrowding. Washing up facilities on both ends of the field. The recycling policy with bags supplied. Toilets and showers for someone with anxiety when using public restrooms were a positive surprise very clean and well maintained. The reception area and provided freezer to freeze your ice packs were a bonus. Also great pizza. The area also provided easy access to The New Forest hotspots. I would definitely recommend it to a family and friends.

Disliked: The freezer could be slightly more powerful.
