  • Lively Hampshire family farm site with easy access from M3 and A303
  • A 20-minute drive to Winchester and Watercress Line railway
  • Café, farm shop and brewery taproom with weekend food trucks
Fancy a farm stay, but not so keen on the idea of a long drive along country lanes? Get yourselves along to Dummer Down Farm, in a handy Hampshire location that’s easily accessed from the M3 and A303 (thereby also making it a good place to consider for a stopover on a longer journey…) There’s a real buzz about this lively place, which is just outside the pretty village of Dummer and within 20 minutes’ drive of Winchester and Basingstoke. It’s not just a campsite at this family farm – there’s also a farm shop, a café (with a terrace looking out over the fields) and a brewery, where you can finish your day off with a pint of fresh local beer in the taproom next door or pick up something to eat from one of the local food trucks that park here at weekends. If you’d rather do the self-catering thing, stop by at the market garden to see what sort of fresh organic veg they’ve got for sale that day. A convenience store is about a mile and a half away for any other bits you need to go with your dinner. Working up an appetite for these meals and drinks should be easy, as there’s some great walking and cycling to be done directly from the farm as well as plenty of places to have a day out (including wanders around Winchester, animal encounters at Marwell Zoo and grownup trips to see wine and gin in production). Facilities in the field include toilets, a washing-up area, drinking water taps and a chemical disposal point. Dogs are welcome to join you for a stay here.

Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked: Beautiful landscape, mature trees, simple and spacious campsite. The brewery with music duo and pizza van created a relaxed focal point on Saturday evening, but weren't intrusive to the camping area. We had a tasty coffee in the morning, it was lovely to sit outside in the sun enjoying the quiet farmyard, with cyclists and others stoppping by.

Liked: Great cafe on site for breakfast and lunch times. great bar and evening food options available. loved the games in the shed to get the kids busy.

Disliked: would be good to have a shower room. Toilets were a bit of a distance from far end of field, but ok overall.

Unpowered grass campervan site

Liked: A really lovely site with good facilities. Plenty of room to camp. Bonus having the café, shop and brewery onsite and also visiting food trucks on Friday and Saturday night.

Disliked: Would benefit from some investment into bathroom facilities in the future but such a very small point as they are open and honest that they do not have showers.

Unpowered grass campervan site

Liked: Lovely setting. Brewery and cafe on site both great.

Disliked: Unfortunately the one toilet (1 male, 1 female) is shared with all of the brewery visitors in the evening. And in the morning with everyone at an equine event. Also field used as a football training ground in the evening, so constant high velocity balls flying around, not very relaxing.

From the manager: Hello - thank you for coming to stay with us - I am sorry, re the equine event. We like to support community events and they needed to use the toilets. Yes apologies re the football, as soon as I saw them I asked them to stop, they are from the local football club who use the pitch in the winter, I have asked them not to use it when we have campers so I am sorry about this. I hope that you have a good rest of the summer, thank you - Andrew
