A good site for families with a big tent wanting privacy.
Hammock unpowered forest floor tent site (tents not permitted)
Liked I've given this site a high rating because it's quite beautiful and spread out. I'll add that i was there with my 16 year old son and we were hammock camping. We were also there for a couple of nights when the site was almost empty so I can't comment on what it's like when busy, I was told when I arrived that around 250 people were there the week before. Unfortunately the 2 hammock areas were right at the bottom of the sloping camp site but it gave me a chance to go past a few camp areas Which all looked to have their own space without any one else needing to go close by as well as being secluded from view. I should add that although the overall site seemed to be on a slope the individual pitches looked flat. The facilities all seemed well looked after and if you are a family that doesn't like open field camping then this is a great alternative. I wouldn't go back as a hammock camper but with a family tent and choice of pitch it's on my preferred camping site list.
Disliked Disliked is a strong word. Cars could go no further than the car park. Wheel barrows were supplied to transport camping things to the pitch but if you were pitched in the further areas then that could be quite a haul and if you were down the slope then a harder journey back up to the car park when you pack up. As I mentioned, the hammock spots were at the bottom of the site so quite a trek up hill on the way back. We were traveling light so a wheelbarrow each and one trip was all we needed but if we had a big tent and lots of equipment, I'd make sure I was camped near the car park end and not down the slop. I wasn't used to an office which was only open very restricted hours outside of "holidays" i definitely disliked that as i rely on those offices to carry a bit of milk and some other bits and pieces. I also thought that both of the hammock sites were inadequate for more than one hammock but not advertised as solo hammock sites. The only way I could get two hammocks to fit was to cover up the fire pit with half of one. As a hammock camper I would not have chosen either of the 2 spots to advertise for hammocks, certainly not more than one hammock. It can be a common problem for woodland camping sites too advertise for hammock campers without realising what we need for a good site. Any camp site advertising to hammock campers should get a hammock camper to approve hanging spots.
Loved it so much I didn’t want to leave!
Faraway unpowered forest floor tent site
Liked Beech Estate is one of the loveliest, off-grid, back-to-nature campsites I’ve ever stayed at. I originally booked a pitch for 1 night, but loved it so much I ended up staying for 4.
Leanne, Joe and the team were super friendly and helpful and I felt really welcome and comfortable as a solo female camper on a family-friendly site.
The pitches are well-spread out and feel really private, and you have lots of space to enjoy just for yourself. I explored the trails through the woods, enjoyed the peace and quiet, and getting to see the stars at night, took an outdoor morning yoga class and cooked on the campfire. And the bucket showers were so fab that I want one at home now!
I can’t wait to visit again 🏕️
From the manager: Hi Sarah,
We are chuffed to bits that you loved your stay with us! I'll pass your kind words onto Leanne and Joe... and yes, the bucket showers are pretty special, we should definitely all have one.
We do hope that you pop back and visit us again.
It was lovely, quiet and absolutely wonderful…

Unpowered forest floor tent site (woodland)
Liked The overall feel of the campsite was top notch, we couldn’t have asked for better surroundings. Perfect for anyone looking to get away from it all and just enjoy switching off in the stunning grounds of this estate. Loved everything from the bucket showers to the fantastic pitches with fire pits. Everything you possibly hope to have is all ready for you and makes the stay that much more enjoyable. The hosts were great and recommended the great walks, local activities, towns and pubs, especially the white hart. We only stayed for 2 nights but felt like we could have stayed forever. Thanks!
Disliked The mosquitos 😂
From the manager: So glad you enjoyed your stay at Beech! It is indeed a wonderful place to switch off and take it all in...including our bucket showers! We hope we see you back at Beech again soon.
The best places to camp in the wild nature
Faraway unpowered forest floor tent site
Liked The best places to camp in the wild nature!!!
Tent pitches are perfectly adapted to fit into the surrounding forest. There is a separate forest path to each tent pitch, which ensures that your tent site will give you peace and quiet and you can fully enjoy the surrounding forest nature. There is a secured place for a bonfire, compost toilets are perfectly clean and well-kept, a great idea with shower buckets. Beautiful paths through the forest.
Joe and Hugh were incredibly helpful during my stay at this campsite, for which I am extremely grateful. It's so beautiful there, everything is so well-kept, surrounded by nature, birds singing, peace and quiet, that I can't wait to go back there.
Disliked That I had to leave this wonderful place and go back to work ;) ;)
From the manager: Thank you for your kind words and we are delighted that you enjoyed your stay, your photos are wonderful too! Come back and see us soon.
Bucket showers are a must! Site facilities are clean!

Liked We loved being off grid and getting back to basic. Letting the children enjoy being in nature. The sounds of the birds in the morning and the open fires in the evening make it more fun!
Disliked Nothing!
From the manager: Thank you for your lovely review! We are so glad that you had a fabulous stay and got back to nature - just what we hope all our guests do. And our bucket showers are a favourite among many!! We hope you come back to stay again soon. Thank you!
Great weekend enjoying nature and putting electronics away!
Wild Glamping bell tent
Liked The bed in the bell tents are really comfortable and we had a great sleep. The campsite is very peaceful and quiet, you can’t really hear other people on their site. A lot of land to go for a walk and explore. All important utensils are provided, pans, plates, cups, cutlery etc. Washing up bowl, sponge and liquid provided. Hot shower and easy to use the bucket system. Choice of compost toilet or normal.
Disliked Nothing
From the manager: So glad you enjoyed your stay in one of our Wild Glamping Bell Tents at Beech Estate. It sounds like you really embraced all that our glamping offers in the peacefulness of the Sussex countryside, particularly our fabulous bucket showers! Hope we see you again soon. Thank you
Good woodland site with good privacy for quiet camping.
Faraway unpowered forest floor tent site
Liked We liked the set up at Beech Estate. The communication was friendly and clear and efficient. We liked the distance between pitches. It was lovely to have a fire pit and our tent pitched in our own little clearing. We booked a Faraway Camping Tent Pitch and did ferrying our equipment with the wheelbarrows provided in 3 barrow loads. The car was left in the car park and we felt it was out of the way but near enough to be safe overnight. We used one bag of kindling and two bags of firewood to keep a fire going for 4 hours. Fire Grills were extra to hire so we just used small grill from our gaz burner close to the fire to keep the kettle boiling on the fire. We did not get any ticks on us at all! The camp wardens were friendly and helpful. The site was peaceful and we had a good nights sleep. We enjoyed walks on the diversely planted and well managed estate. We liked being able to separate our rubbish into recycling and general waste and glass and just took home our compostable rubbish. We saw baby bunnies, buzzards and fed the robins breakfast watching the sunrise! Beautiful Blissy experience. Thank you.
From the manager: Thank you for your lovely review! We're really pleased you enjoyed the stay and glad you spotted some lovely wildlife during your visit! We hope to see you again soon.
Excellent site, excellent and knowledgeable staff. Highly recommend
Wild Glamping bell tent
Liked The staff were absolutely amazing. Always took the time to stop and speak to my 2 year old son. Nothing was too much trouble. The bell tent and pitch was amazing. Away from everything. We had woodland walks looking for animals, built a den, watched the stars and had such an amazing time. My son who hates showers even loved the rustic bucket showers :) we loved it so much we added another night!! We will definitely be booking for next year. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
Disliked Nothing. All was brilliant thank you 👍
From the manager: Thank you so much for your lovely review! It's so lovely to read about your experience and we're really happy you enjoyed your stay. Sounds like you'll need to build a bucket shower at home! We hope to see you again soon.
Highly recommend
Unpowered forest floor tent site (woodland)
Liked Location, no cars next to pitches, open fires, fire grill available, forest pitch, large wheelbarrows to transport gear, clean toilets, very friendly and helpful staff. Very happy with the pitch I was given - secluded.
Disliked No logs/tree stumps to use as seating around the camp fire.
My pitch was at the end of path/pitch area so nicely secluded, but would’ve not enjoyed as much if had been assigned to some of pitches that I had to pass enroute to my pitch as they were quite open and not secluded.
Some guests didn’t observe the noise/music curfew.
From the manager: Thank you for your review. We're really happy to hear you enjoyed your pitch and the campsite. The majority of our pitches are quite secluded though we have some more open pitches that are generally used for groups. We'll always do our best to allocate a secluded spot if this is requested so it's worth mentioning this if you book with us again, we'd love to see you return.
