  • Family-run touring park on the Fylde coast
  • Modern amenities suitable for families and disabled guests
  • On the edge of Freckleton, 25 minutes' drive from Blackpool
You'll be in a most convenient countryside and seaside setting when you trot along to Donkey Creek Farm Caravan Site. Countryside – and wanders: this pretty rural place is on the outskirts of the Lancashire town of Freckleton and on the edge of the Lancashire Coastal Way meandering for 137 miles between Merseyside and Cumbria. Seaside: Donkey Creek is on the Fylde coast, eight and a half miles from Lytham, its sands and those four golf courses. Your nifty setting is 25 minutes' drive from the illuminating lights of Blackpool for amusements and shows, and 15 minutes from Preston for pubs and grub. Those who must have their hols served up with sparkling amenities are also well sorted here; as it only opened in 2018, Donkey Creek's essentials are of the thoroughly modern sort and include plenty to keep guests of all types comfortable. The bright amenities block has underfloor heating, a family bathroom and a disabled-access bathroom with walk-in shower alongside the well-kept toilets and showers; there's a laundry room for ease of cleaning sandy togs, and a veg prep room with freezer facility is also to hand for guests' use. A selection of groceries and camping/touring kit is at the site shop; for other bits, Freckleton village centre is 15 minutes' walk away.

What customers say

Donkey Creek Farm gets kudos for its spotless, modern facilities, especially showers/toilets. Guests love the spacious pitches and friendly staff. Quiet vibe, walkable to Freckleton's pubs/takeaways, and a great Fylde coast base. Minor airfield noise or occasional boggy dog field mentioned, but most want to return.

Fully-serviced gravel and concrete caravan site

Liked Nice, tidy site with good clean facilities, in a convenient location with locals shops nearby. Everything was as described but we have travelled for 7 months now non-stop both at home and abroad and this was the most expensive site we've stayed on, including some which had extensive facilities such as swimming pools, cafes, restaurants and even entertainment (if that's your thing). It's definitely a good option to stay in Lancashire, but I just felt it was expensive in comparison.

Disliked Not a dislike as such, but you need not only a good supply of coins for the launderette, but it has to be a certain combo, including a two-pound coin, which even the local convenience store didn't have, necessitating a further walk to get the right denominations.

Also, the shop looked to be small but well- stocked but there are no published opening hours, which would be useful to know, especially if you want said coins for the laundry......

Local attractions

Options immediately around the site include a well-equipped playground in Freckleton Memorial Park and football pitches at Bush Lane playing fields, both within half a mile, and access to the Lancashire Coastal Walk within the same distance. If you're not up for hiking the full 137 miles of the route, the local section from Freckleton to Silverdale passes Lytham, the Ribble estuary, Morecambe and the RSPB reserve of Hest Bank. Have at least a few days in Lytham whatever your holiday tastes: the Park View 4U Playing Fields four miles from the park are an excellent family option with toddler play area, teen zone, BMX track, skate park and trim trail, and the famed championship golf courses at Lytham St Annes are a top pick for teeing off. The Lytham St Annes beaches have donkey rides, crazy golf and other seaside shenanigans alongside their swathes of sand. Hikes, hacks and mountain bikes are all available around the lush Forest of Bowland, 25 minutes' drive away.
