Unpowered grass tent site

Liked: Very small camping area with only 3 pitches but an amazing location amongst the trees with the sound of running water. Only a 5 minute walk to the lakeside which is ideal for water sports and swimming. The included fire pits and cooking tripod are also a big bonus

Unpowered grass tent site

Liked: Separate pitches to log cabins ect, close to clean toilet and shower facilities. Close to park your car next to pitches, and only few pitches so easy to book a large group together less likely to be disturbed by other pitchers. Walk across the road and your at the lakeside.

Disliked: The only negative to say would be the ground is so rocky, its hard to peg, and/or pegs get bent.

Unpowered grass tent site

Liked: Small site surrounded by trees and only a stones throw away from the showers/toilets makes it a great place to get set up and settled in. The site is beautiful, the hosts were very helpful when needed but left us to ourselves otherwise which for us was PERFECT! The waters edge of Coniston is literally 5 minutes away on foot even carrying kayaks / paddle-boards This was our second stay bringing along new family members and we’ll definitely be back in the future

Unpowered grass tent site

Liked: Toilets/showers very clean. Little honesty box/tick shop hut was a cool idea.

Disliked: The camp site itself was tiny, like 5 pitch spaces quite close together, I was just expecting a field to stay in not a cirled area covered by trees. Still good though. Had to wmail for the WiFi password.

Unpowered grass tent site

Liked: Beautiful location, and close to nearby town and lake. Friendly neighbours in other tents. Friendly hosts over text. Overal nice place to stay, would probably visit again.

Disliked: Very hard to put tent pegs into the ground, the small area in which we were given to pitch was on a mud like pitch with rocks under the surface, which ended in alot of bent pegs. Bathrooms doors were very sticky as well (got locked in at one point 😅) The extractor fans in the bathrooms don't work either, so it gets very muggy in the toilets after showering.

Unpowered grass tent site

Liked: Atmosphere of campsite, nicely secluded among the birch trees! Minimal amount of tent bookings taken means that the facilities (toilets and showers) could easily accommodate everyone. Great location…with Torver common and the lake just there and a short drive to Coniston.

Local attractions

To stick to the ground or to go up into the treetops? You’ll be pulled in both directions in Grizedale Forest (half an hour's drive), thanks to its sculpture trail and the Go Ape obstacle trails in the trees. This is just one of the local areas rich in nature, as the mountain hike up the Old Man of Coniston (15 minutes) is a real beauty spot. Lake District locations go almost hand-in-hand with water activities and none more so than Windermere (20 minutes), where there’s bike or boat hire, canoeing and kayaking or waterskiing and wakeboarding classes. But while The Dock Museum (half an hour) is one way to learn about the water, it’s not all about that. There’s also a Buddhist temple at Conishead Priory (20 minutes), the Lakeland Motor Museum (15 minutes) and the National Trust Hill Top with Beatrix Potter’s house (25 minutes). William Wordsworth has made Grasmere (40 minutes) a particularly interesting village for literary fans, while those of you searching for some more history will find that in the fortresses of Wray Castle (half an hour) and Muncaster Castle (40 minutes).
