Brick Kiln Wood: Hammocks welcome

General

  • Adults-only woodland site five minutes' walk from the Cumbrian coast
  • A five-minute drive from Ulverston; 15 minutes from the Lake District
  • A mile from a leisure centre, food shop and meditation centre

Brick Kiln Wood is a secluded woodland site suitable for hammocks and tents. This back to basics spot has great woodland pitches and functional eco toilets, leaving the rest up to you. Want to work on your camp cooking skills, listen to the dawn chorus and identify animal tracks? This is the place to do it.

This very relaxed site is also a five-minute walk from a pebbly beach that looks out over a gorgeous estuary. This site is a little slice of peaceful heaven. Sunlight dapples through the trees morning and evening. The cheeky chickens come and eat your scraps. It’s a five minute walk from the coast. It’s basic, peaceful, relaxing and as camping should be. It’s going to be a regular spot for us. Thanks for letting us stay.

Very small back to basics almost wild camping site. The owners were fab and came straight out to get us when we accidently went past . It's pretty much pitch where you like individual cut outs amongst the trees. The trees also help with stopping most of the rain. fire pits available for a fiver (i think) the owner also makes sweet treats available from the honest post. The bonus if you carry on down the road for less than 2 mins you'll come to the beach which must also be a good fishing spot judging by how many were fishing it. If you read the description you'll know there's no water on site and a very basic toilet that requires you to put saw dust shavings down after you've finished. There's a co op a short walk away that sells bottled water and toiletries plus a chip shop opposite. On a side note the chickens and hens are very friendly and cheeky .

    Disliked:

Nothing really to dislike the description of the site is 100% honest i just feel a more modern chemical toilet and one of the stand alone camping sinks that run off a caravan water tank on amazon for £80 would be a great investment. It won't stop me coming back though.

Beautiful and peaceful woodland wild camping site. It's as close as you can get to pitching up a tent in the woods and just enjoying nature. We saw deer, foxes and owls as well as countless other birds. Owners were lovely and friendly and the chickens were very curious!

    Disliked:

Nothing! This site is essentially wild camping with a compost loo so make sure to prepare for all weather/terrain and enjoy the woodland and being surrounded by nature!
