Unpowered grass tent site

Liked This was a family friendly camp site with all you need for a nice time away to spend quality time. The views are spectacular and the owners/managers are so lovely.

There is a communal room with fridge, freezer, microwave, toaster and kettles free to use. There is also TV, seating, board games and leaflets on the local area, you can also use the onsite WiFi here if needed.

There is toilets and a shower block and they sell a few things at the onside shop.

Overall this was a lovely place we just picked the coldest days of summer to camp and couldn't fully enjoy ourselves.

Thank you for the friendly welcome!!

Liked Lovely site. Not over crowded. The facilities were clean and in good working order.

Unpowered grass tent site (riverside)

Liked Amazing gem of a place. Fab location, easy to get to different locations around chmbria and around 20 minutes from Keswick.

The riverside pitch was fantastic, the perfect backdrop for a few days of peace and quiet.

The views from the main pitch were spectacular, could have happily stayed there for days.

We were a little late for check in due to traffic but a quick call to staff and it was no problem. A nicd bonus to have the fire pit and logs available on site.

The site had everything you need, including a communal area with fridge/freezer, toaster kettle etc. Plugs to quickly charge devices.

Camping pod (no pets)

Liked This is the second year staying in this beautiful location. The pod was just as comfy and relaxing as the year before. The staff at the whole site are lovely, friendly and always happy to chat even though they are busy people! Doesn’t help when I couldn’t remember the opening times of the reception area but even though I couldn’t.. there was always someone there to help! Thank you so much for a wonderful week!

Camping pod (no pets)

Liked This is far and ahead the best family friendly camp site I’ve ever stayed in!
My son and I stayed in a pod, it was clean and comfortable. The site was vibrant but peaceful and all the facilities worked well. It was safe enough for my young son to wander around and explore a bit. Reception staff were very friendly and easy going. I’ll definitely be back.

Unpowered grass tent site

Liked Everything! Especially playground; communal room with kettles and fridges and freezers; location; pub 10 min walk; family atmosphere; good little shop; hills all around.

Disliked Didn’t bother us much, but there is some road noise from nearby A road (on the other hand, it makes it easy to get to!)

Local attractions

Ullswater is the nearest of the lakes at 10 minutes’ drive away, so that’s as good a place to start as any – stop by at Aira Force waterfall on your way down there, then get down to the lake itself for waterside walks, steamer cruises and various watersports – or even a wild swim if you’re feeling brave. Over on the banks of Derwentwater, Keswick (15 minutes’ drive) is another good place to explore, with a brewery, The Puzzling Place and the Derwent Pencil Museum as well as boat trips and paddleboards to hire. Walkers of all varieties have much to choose from around here, from gentle lakeside wanders to uphill scrambles at Blencathra and Helvellyn, both of which are close by. The folk on the farm are happy to suggest routes to suit – or point you towards the likes of Dalemain Mansion (15 minutes), Mirehouse & Gardens (20 minutes) or Lowther Castle (25 minutes) for stately-home strolls.
