  • Peaceful four-acre Cheshire site for CAMC members only
  • A 10-minute drive to Delamere Forest; 20 minutes to Chester
  • Close to the M56, with easy access to railway station and cycle path
As handy Cheshire locations go, this one scores heaps of points. Helsby Touring Park Certified Location is a site that's set up for Caravan and Motorhome Club members only, and it's a place that you might choose for a number of reasons. Firstly, its location just a little way off the M56 makes this a handy stopover point on long cross-country journeys. And next up is the fact that it's easy to get around once you’ve parked up, as it's next to National Cycle Route 5 and there's a railway station a mile away with services to Chester, Liverpool and the north Wales coast. Those outings should keep you busy for a few days, but there’s plenty more as well – including lovely walks in Delamere Forest, animal spotting at Chester Zoo and bargain hunting at Designer Outlet Cheshire Oaks. Everything's nice and handy on the practical front too, with a large supermarket five minutes’ drive away and plenty of options for pubs, restaurants and shops in either Helsby (two minutes' drive) or Frodsham (five minutes). This is an adults-only site, so it's got a nicely peaceful vibe, and its setting in a four-acre field means there's plenty of space for everyone. A chemical disposal point is provided, and you're welcome to bring a barbecue or light a campfire. Well-behaved dogs are permitted on site.

Liked: Had electric and chemical waste.

Disliked: Difficult to find. Offputting vehicle access. Sign saying unsuitable for motor vehicles. No code for gate which was locked. Phoned warden on Mobile Park nearby. Gave me a number to call in Yorkshire. Eventually got gate code. Very uneven pitch. Steep incline to and from site for long vehicles with loose gravel unable to get traction to climb.

Liked: We had the place to ourselves

Disliked: Arriving to a locked gate, no contact from the number.
Then a text asking can they call back later.
At this point we was at the locked gate, asked for the combination for the padlock.

Was given the Incorrect code

Only for somebody on a neighbouring static site going above and beyond we would never of got in.

Liked: nothing

Disliked: no reception office - lucky we met the wardens of the static van site who informed us no facilities (showers ot toilets) even though advertised and we were the second couple in a week who got told the same thing - NO FACILITIES - should be a refund as parking up in a field would have been cheaper

Very basic facility over priced. £15 to £20 would be fair.

Liked: The weather, nice cycle paths into town.
With a little TLC and correct description of what’s on site and remove the camera, I’m sure it would be a nicer place to stay.

Disliked: No facilities on site as described, on pitch up, these are a deal breaker for us and we wouldn’t have booked if the description had been correct, just an Elsan point ( no shower or toilet block) 5 pitches available (1 was not in use) leaving only 3 that had space at the side to sit outside as poorly designed. Also described as a 4 acre field, it’s not even an acre (disappointing) Bins overflowing and stinking due to the hot weather, looked like a building site as you drove in and grass could do with a mow. The worst part is a camera set up to invade your privacy, we put a windbreak up, but the feeling of being watched ruined our stay. We paid £25 for the night. It states you have to be caravan and motorhome club members, but doesn’t hold the standards you’d expect.
