Sunnyview Touring Park: My pitch

General

  • Peaceful and well-maintained site for the over-45s
  • A 10-minute drive from central Doncaster and an hour from York
  • Safe park with CCTV, security gates and an on-site manager

Laidback breaks with like-minded guests are what's in store at Sunnyview Touring Park, a quiet and well-kept South Yorkshire site designed with folk over 45 in mind. Head here for some outdoorsy times in a peaceful and grownup environment, far from noisy groups of kids.

Sunnyview Touring Park is a secure, gated site with reassuring features like CCTV and an on-site manager for extra peace of mind. The site's flat and well-maintained grounds also have smooth brick driveways to make your arrival and departure that little bit easier, and the modern and spacious toilet and shower facilities are also top-notch.

While green and grassy, this South Yorkshire site is far from remote – driving up to Doncaster (10 minutes' drive) and its shops and restaurants is a breeze, with York (an hour) and other popular spots also well within range. Also handy is access to motorways like the M1 and M18, both of which can be reached within a few minutes' drive.

Those keen on self-grilled grub can bring a barbecue here, but please make sure to keep it safely off the ground. Other dinner options include the local pub and a well-stocked supermarket, both of which are a 20-minute walk away.

This site doesn't cater for kids, but some smaller travellers (namely those of the canine variety) are welcome to join in on trips to this pet-friendly park.

Perfect location for stopover between locations or like us visiting friends in Yorkshire ideal if you have a car to visit Doncaster town parks racecourse or some beautiful outside villages like tickhill lots of nice places to eat and drink very highly recommend town to visit day or night all in a 10 minute drive A1 just 5 min drive so ideal for a few days stay in between long journeys, very chilled and peaceful this site serves guests age 45 or over.
Plenty of nice dog walking on your doorstep great facilities ehu water etc dated showers etc but spotless clean and that’s all anyone needs a dustbin for ever other plot and emptied numerous times throughout the day felt like you had your own bin nice touch … the whole site was well maintained the hard standing pitching was level and great quality stone a pinkish granite not the chalky cheap stuff that breaks down and finishes inside your van.
Yes nothing to dislike and will return again and again

Pleasant site near Doncaster town centre07/25/2022

The site was conveniently positioned for a concert we were going to in Doncaster. The site was clean & tidy and although busy was not too noisy.

    Disliked:

When we arrived we were told they were very full and had no electric pitches despite us booking the pitch. We were asked if we were happy with a non electric pitch which we said we were as it was just the one night but we were still charged for an electric pitch. It wasn't until afterwards that we realised that it should have been £5 cheaper.

Very friendly and patient staff managed to squeeze my caravan in between some tents.

    Disliked:

The site was overbooked. It appears that Pitch up overbooked the site and there wasn't enough space in the normal area for the caravan.
Also if coming from the A1 North, check your sat nav doesn't take you down the one way road that turns into a foot path!

Local attractions

There’s a lot in the local area that could lead you to spending quite some time dawdling around Doncaster. Start off at the Doncaster Museum and Art Gallery (10 minutes’ drive), an informative attraction with displays on fine art, archaeology and local history. Those wanting to learn more about the lay of the land can also visit Conisbrough Castle (10 minutes), whose tall turrets are said to have inspired renowned writer Sir Walter Scott.

Similarly easy to reach is Crookhill Park Golf Course (10 minutes), an 18-hole club set amid splendid South Yorkshire countryside. Like your landscapes a little less managed? The Dearne Valley, a short drive away to the west, has two RSPB-run nature reserves – Adwick Washland (20 minutes) and Old Moor (25 minutes) – that should keep birders, wildlife photographers and walkers satisfied.

Sunnyview Touring Park is also within an hour of handsome North Yorkshire spots like York, where the Gothic minster, topsy-turvy Shambles and National Railway Museum are likely to leave various types chuffed. The bubbly hub that is Harrogate (an hour), a spa town, is also well worth the journey.

Must see

  • Brodsworth Hall and Gardens (9.2 kilometres)
  • Magna Science Adventure Centre (16.7 kilometres)
  • Wentworth Castle Gardens (23.9 kilometres)

National Trust

  • Mr Straw's House (19.8 kilometres)
