Here’s the chance for the whole family to go completely wild… in the nicest possible way of course. Now you and the kids can stay overnight at Camp Lion - Yorkshire Wildlife Park, the ‘wildest’ family-friendly campsite in South Yorkshire, and wake up to birdsong and the truly unforgettable sound of African lions roaring… Camp Lion’s spacious grass meadow (there’s bags of room for kids to have a runaround) is actually within the grounds of Yorkshire Wildlife Park. Booking a stay entitles you to exclusive discounted multi-day entry to the park, and additional discounted days can be added during your stay – please just ask at the Camp Lion office. Even after the park closes for the day, you can look forward to organised games and evening activities under the cover of Camp Lion Lodge Mess Tent, where there’s a licensed bar and snacks on offer too. Site facilities also include a breakfast den, access to the outdoor Oasis Kids’ Play Area and Camp Lion shop, where you can pick up anything vital that got left behind at home. The site is a doddle to get to as well, being just five minutes’ drive from Junction 3 of the M18 and 20 minutes from the centre of Doncaster.

So what awaits you when you holiday at Yorkshire Wildlife Park? Your stay includes exclusive evening use of the Oasis Play Area and the Masai Pizza House at Giraffes – the latter is a dead cert for happy family dining with the kids.  There’s loads more to do as well: encounter red pandas from the Himalayas, meet hyenas from Ethiopia and see seals frisking in the water at Point Lobos. Or how about booking polar bear experiences or going walkabout with wallabies? With all this excitement, it’s highly unlikely that you’ll be able to persuade the family away from the animals, but Yorkshire does have many other bucket-list attractions, including ever-changing alfresco exhibitions at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park (45 minutes' drive) and high-octane rides at Gulliver’s Valley Theme Park (25 minutes). Most kids also love the chance to mess about and get dirty on tractors and bulldozers at Diggerland Yorkshire (40 minutes).
