What customers say
Stablefell: tranquil, remote escape, amazing views, good pitches (many with fire pits). Super clean, modern facilities & hot showers praised. Owners are friendly & welcoming. Delicious pizzas sometimes available. Pitches can be sloped & no mobile signal, but guests loved it & want to return.

Fabulous, we loved it
Unpowered grass tent site
Liked Really generous sized and allocated pitches designated by long grass with beautiful buttercups. Clean and hot showers- every time I went to the toilet block it looked like someone had just been in to clean it. Freezers for campers use for ice blocks to keep cool boxes cool . Delicious pizzas by order. Spectacular, like SPECTACULAR views. Very laid back and quiet. The bird life was insane. We had barn owls and tawny owls flying over us and calling before we went to bed. And cuckoos cuckooing esrlier in the evening. Curlews all the time. Goats for the kids to stroke. It was one of our favourite camp sites we’ve been to. All tents, and no campers which was an added bonus.
Disliked I didn’t dislike anything at all. Just to note for future campers that the camp shop doesn’t sell any meat or milk and nearest shop is a good way away so come stocked up (we completely forgot to stop for supplies en route and the owner kindly squeezed us in on the pizza orders for the fully booked night which we really appreciated) so really just a heads up in case people might expect any fresh produce, and not a ‘dislike’

Peaceful Wildlife-Rich Family Campsite with Excellent Facilities
Unpowered grass tent site
Liked Very neat, tidy and well-run campsite. Great amenities (clean well-stocked toilets, good showers, a little shop with essentials and treats), and even homemade pizza which was delicious.
Jo and family were very friendly and gave us lots of ideas of things to do during our stay. Our kids loved seeing the animals (chickens, goats, and especially Ellie the cat). I was also amazed by the biodiversity generally in the area, lots of amazing beetles and insects about, along with curlews, song thrushes, swallows, owls, a cuckoo in full voice, and we might have even spotted a hen harrier in the distance!
The location was great as well, a short drive from many lovely towns, dales, and other attractions (our favourite was Cotter Force where we had a swim in the waterfall pool).
The campsite rules are clear and well communicated which meant there was no music or people making lots of noise at night, a huge bonus for our young family, we were able to drift off too sleep easily whilst listening to the wildlife around us.
We had a great time and we'll definitely be returning.
Disliked Nothing!

Unpowered grass tent site
Liked A lovely and warm welcome from the owners. The campsite is incredibly picturesque and quiet, with spacious and well maintained independent pitches. 360 views with beautiful walks from the doorstep. Clean facilities with hot showers. Plus the added bonus of an on-site shop open for an hour or so in the AM/PM with the option to purchase freshly baked pizzas or morning croissant. One of our favourite campsites in England!

Liked Spacious pitches, amazing views, the owner very welcoming. The owner has welcomed us in the check in, very accommodating and nice. Very clean facilities, all showers had cleaning sprays to clean after/before use. We’ve had such an amazing weekend, and will definitely come back.

Excellent, peaceful site with good sized pitches, good facilities.
Unpowered grass tent site
Liked Beautiful position in the Dale's with fantastic views and lots of opportunity for hikes. The camp is spacious and the individual pitches are big and the ground easy to put pegs in. Each pitch has a fire pit with wood for sale from the camp shop (£11 for a large bucket of wood and kindling and 3 fire lighters). Its a quiet site so very relaxing with plenty of nature sounds - birdsong, owls, sheep etc. The facilities are really good. Plenty of hot water for washing up and showers. The bathrooms are immaculately clean and modern. You can pre-order homemade pizzas for the evening and they are very tasty. Jo the owner is very friendly and approachable. She shares her many animals with the camp - 2 goats Tom and Harry and you can buy food to feed them. The chickens that are truly free range and roam around the camp and their eggs are also for sale. The farm cat who is very friendly and enjoys a stroke. We had a great time and would definitely return.
Disliked Honestly, we couldn't find any negatives.

Would definitely consider returning in the future for a few days.
Unpowered grass tent site
Liked Despite heavy rain and strong winds we really enjoyed our few days at Stablefell. It is a very nice laid out site and very quiet, the plots are a good size and well marked out. It has a well looked after toilet block with really hot showers, a small shop for small camping needs and home made pizzas which were really nice and saved cooking an evening meal. Host Jo was very pleasant and friendly and would always stop for a chat with you both in the morning or evening.
The site is well off the beaten track in a valley that is very remote and peaceful so if you want to chill out in peace and quiet I would 100 percent recommend it.
T
Disliked Although it is a tent site electric hook up would have been nice but we coped ok without it, possibly placing lights on the walkway though the site for easier access to the toilets through the night time (eg solar lights )
My only gripe was someone taking our freezer blocks out of the freezer for their own use and not returning them, rather annoying especially when they are marked with your name on them, a good job they were not required for medical needs.

Would definitely go again but on one of the flatter pitches
Unpowered grass tent site
Liked The location was fabulous! Pitches very big. Staff very friendly. Toilets and facilities were really good, very clean. Little shop was good.
Disliked Our pitch was on a slope and had a few molehills. Once the tent was up we had a few bumps and holes from the molehills. Also kept rolling into each other in bed because it was down hill.
