Unpowered grass campervan site

Liked: Lovely campsite with facilities. Facilities were kept nice and clean and access to clean running and drinking water made for an easier stay. James the site owner made sure the pitches were maintained and kept clean and were at a good standard. Amazing views that stretch out passed Scarborough with dark skies in evening allowing perfect nighttime viewing. Shops are in the local area with Tesco 5 minute drive down the road and Whitby and Scarborough 10 minutes away. The site is very close to the access for the beach meaning summer nights are well spent here. Will definitely be returning and make this a regular stopping point.

Unpowered grass tent site

Liked: Quiet, dog friendly and peaceful site with 16 well spaced and level pitches with plenty of room for the car and young children to run around safely. Basic but more than adequate facilities including shower and mobile phone charger and if we could see it a view of the sea

Disliked: Nothing perfect for an overnight stay in a great location to explore the surroundings. The only downside being the sea fog which, unlike the rest of the area, didn’t move from arrival to leaving

Unpowered grass campervan site

Liked: The view was amazing, the campsite is quiet. The owner sounds friendly on the phone.

Disliked: The facilities were very basic and not very clean. For the price thought the facilities would be better. The shower is tiny and the shower goes cold if someone is washing their hands while you shower in the ladies.

Unpowered grass campervan site

Liked: Size of the pitches, location , was near the end of October and during the storm . Phone charger point was a nice touch. WIFI would be useful as some people work whilst away or need the WiFi to view tv etc. Near buy pub was excellent Owner friendly

Disliked: The state of the toilets after they were used by others and that someone just came on the site to use the toilets. Dislikes : mainly with regards other people who used or didn’t respect the facilities.

Local attractions

Planning a trip to Scarborough is easy, as Britain's first ever seaside resort is a mere 15-minute drive to the south. Donkey rides, Victorian buildings like the Spa, sticks of rock and amusement arcades are all available here, as are two sweeping sandy beaches, the Asian-inspired landscapes of Peasholm Park and Oliver's Mount, a large wooded hill 500 metres above the town with a well-stocked fishing lake and fantastic far-reaching vistas. Whitby (half an hour) is the other must-see town in the area, but this part of Yorkshire is peppered with other sights too – there’s Flamborough Headland Heritage Coast (40 minutes) with its nesting birds and beaches, Sewerby Hall and Gardens (45 minutes) for tours round a historic country pile, Flamingo Land Resort (50 minutes) for adrenaline and excitement… Want to focus on the North York Moors National Park? Ride out on mountain bikes through Dalby Forest (35 minutes), step among the scenic stones of Rievaulx Abbey (an hour and 10 minutes) or get down to the village of Goathland (30 minutes) to see the Mallyan Spout waterfall and a train station that featured in the Harry Potter films.
