  • Peaceful rural site on a 120-acre working farm in Sinnington
  • On the edge of the North York Moors under an hour's drive from York
  • Walking trails around the farm for gorgeous Ryedale views
If you're the sort whose ideal rural break features not only heaps of peaceful space and gorgeous views but also a pub within walking distance and a bare minimum of narrow lanes to negotiate, Cliff Farm Holidays could well be the one for you. Access to this North Yorkshire site is pleasingly easy – just take a very short detour off the A170 and you'll be rewarded with 120 acres of working arable and beef farm. There’s stunning scenery at every turn, and the folk here have made the most of their Ryedale views by setting up walking trails around the farm leading to some of the prettiest corners. Walking’s also a great way to get to the nearest pub, a mere 15-minute stroll away in Sinnington, or to take in the trails of the North York Moors National Park, whose boundaries are a mile or so away. To grab a fish supper or stock up for your evening barbecue, it's a 10-minute drive to Pickering’s shops, supermarket and chippie. Days out can be any combo of coast, country and city that you fancy concocting: the seaside’s 45 minutes’ drive away at Scarborough, and York's historic streets are just under an hour away. Stately homes, animal park, heritage train rides and adventure parks are all in the local area, too. Facilities on site include a toilet block with showers and an accessible/family bathroom, a laundry room and a covered washing-up area. Well-behaved dogs are welcome to join you but must be on a lead at all times; there’s a dog run and mess bin provided.

1 bedroom cottage / chalet / bungalow

Liked I just wanted to book a last minute break away with my friend and dog to end the summer before going back to work. This cottage/chalet/bungalow whatever you want to put it under was, perfect.

More than enough space to relax and the kitchen is such a nice space to cook in. It comes with all the pot, pans, plates and cooking equipment you’ll need. We also took advantage of the fresh eggs you could purchase using the honesty box at the end of the drive - It was wonderful as we had actual forgot to bring some with us for our sausage sandwiches for breakfast.
Overall the downstairs has a rustic look which feels homely and warm. I loved the added touch of a radio that I enjoyed having as background noise throughout my stay. The upstairs/bedroom area is “basic” but that’s not a negative as it’s ideal when it comes with enough foam rectangles to build an awesome bed that very comfortable on an evening.

The site has 3 pre-signposted walks if you wish to use them. I took my dog on all 3 while we were there, beautiful views and all quite easy walks to enjoy. I liked that there was a toilet facility closer than the caravan ones as it was just more convenient. Yes the caravan ones are nicer but we weren’t fussy.. and are too lazy ha!

Overall we had no issues over the three nights we stayed here and I would absolutely recommend the farm for any of its overnight accommodation. It’s a working farm and I liked being able to see all the animals and hear the day to day things that were authentic and therapeutic.

Power optional gravel caravan site

Liked Nice site. Easy to find. We stayed for 1 night only when visiting the area so didn't use any of the facilities but what we did see looked good.
Site clean and tidy and although very busy there was plenty of space.
Friendly gentleman booked us in and pointed out where everything was located.

Power optional gravel caravan site

Liked The friendly feel of this site, we were walked to our pitch and had all the key features pointed out. We were also invited to join in with a game of skittles which looked fun. We also liked the colour coded walks, we only did the short one but it was really scenic. The site didn't feel overcrowded even though we visited on a Saturday night. Will definitely go back.

From the manager: Hi Lisa and thanks for your comments, we're pleased you enjoyed your stay and look forward to seeing again soon.
Next time hopefully you'll join us for that game of skittles,
Regards
Simon.

Power optional gravel caravan site

Liked As a couple with a little sausage dog and touring caravan, we loved this beautiful site. The upkeep is lovely, facilities lovely and clean, staff amazing (both human and Pip the PR dog who often came to check we were ok). There’s plenty of walks to do from the site or a short drive away. We also visited Runswick Bay, Whitby, Robin Hoods Bay, Flamborough and Scarborough as well. The site is easy to get to with a caravan in tow, has a lovely pub within walking distance and the scenery driving up was stunning. Would highly recommend!

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for your review. Pip does like his PR role and takes it very seriously!! We thrilled that you have enjoyed your time with us and visiting the many attractions of the area. We do hope you will come and visit us again.
