Liked The site was immaculately clean with great facilities. Upon arrival we received a friendly, helpful welcome which we appreciated. There was a great cafe on site which we gladly took advantage of serving pizzas, chips etc. Showers and bathroom facilities were superb. Well stocked shop on site open until 8pm. We also like the quiet and respectful atmosphere across the whole site.
Definitely be revisiting

Liked The overall ambience of the site. Thee Park cafe. The lovely ladies in Reception and Shop. The attention of the maintenance staff to the cleanliness and well running of the site. The convenience of the hook-up a d the built-in water point. The well appointed facilities. The weekly fish and chip van. The North Yorkshire Moors and the Wolds on the sites doorstep. The local pubs and the local towns; Thornton le Dale and Helmsley were a couple of our favourites.
Vale of Pickering Caravan Park is definitely deserving of many more visits.
Disliked The entrance to the site from the road can be tricky. Can the hedge around the field opposite be cut down a bit more to make it easier to see and be seen when turning?
I'm sure there's something else, but nothing of any real note springs to mind.

Liked We chose Vale of Pickering as our first ever family-of-four (baby & 4-year old) touring caravan holiday destination. We enjoyed it SO much, we've already talked about re-booking this same site -- without even having ever tried another site..
Look, maybe all of the sites are this good. But as a newbie to caravanning and towing, here are some things I/we really liked.
There was an 'arrivals' lane - which immediately removed the worry about having to find somewhere to park the 12 metre car and caravan combo while I checked in.
Staff were just lovely. I'd called a couple of times prior to arrival too, with a few questions (how do people go about securing awning in to the floor...), and they were happy to answer.
The pitches had lots of room. Again, I was slightly worried about going on to a caravan site and not being able to manoeuvre - but they were open, and it's a breeze to navigate.
The water and facilities were very close.
As for the location - it's within 30 minutes of some favourites like Dalby Forest, and Scarborough - so it's a great base for wider adventures!
Daughter (4 years old) loved the park!
The toilet block facilities were quite honestly exceptional. Plenty of showers rooms, cubicles - immaculately clean. Felt as though this whole block was brand new!
Disliked On a couple of the water filling points I tried first, the taps sprayed - rather than come out as a jet. Not a major inconvenience as I just went to a different station from then-on - but meant you couldn't really fill up an Aquaroll there (unless I was doing it wrong).
We found it a little tricky showering our baby (7 months). None of the rooms had anywhere I could put the baby after I'd showered her -- meaning I had to shower her in one room, go and get her dried/dressed on the baby table in another room (hoping there was nobody in there, as it also had a bath in there, but no shower), and then back in to the original room to put her in a pushchair -- all while I was in a towel, too. Not really a dislike I guess.. Maybe we just hadn't thought it through properly.
Would definitely stay again
