  • Lively family-friendly park five minutes' walk from the beach
  • Pool, kids' splash pool and sports activities
  • Pub restaurant and takeaway
If you’re a delicate flower, there’s no need to wither in the sea when you fancy a swim – go for a toasty float in this park’s smart indoor pool instead. Withernsea Sands Holiday Park is a lively site on the Yorkshire coast, with great facilities for families, including a kids' splash pool alongside the main pool, kids’ clubs, organised sports activities both in the pool and on dry land, and a pub restaurant and takeaway. In peak season, there’s also an evening programme of rip-roaring entertainment and dancing (the vibe is quieter at other times).

Liked Absolutely nothing as we left after 1 hour

Disliked Rubbish strewn all over the pitches, toilets dirty and badly maintained, 4or5gypsy families staying on the field with scrap caravans and toys and bicycles etc scattered all around, l was threatened by them for taking photographs , we complained to reception about it and they said they were aware of the mess and the gypsies and neither site officials or security had the powers to do anything about them, we immediately left

Liked All the staff (but particularly the out of hours staff) were lovely.

Disliked The pool was freezing and very limited in the amount of time you could access. Lights on electrical hookup outlets made the tent too bright. The toilets were always unclean and disgusting. Wouldn't stay here again

Liked It is a really nice site and really liked it there.

Disliked Woman's toilets wasn't very clean and the rule about no work vans allowed isn't true because there was at least 5 Irish travelers on site with their work vans.

Disliked Camping facilities

June 2025
We booked from 28/06 to 05/07 for our first trip to this part of the country.I can imagine a stay in a caravan on this site is quite good and worth booking due to the shop, entertainment, restaurant and nearby town/ beach.
Unfortunately we were staying in our campervan.
On arrival our pitch was occupied by the neighbours cars which they did move and made us feel a nuisance to them. Space was tight but we just had room for the awning.
Fortunately the following day (Sunday) most plots had left so we were happier with the space. One large group which had departed on the Sunday had left various bits of rubbish behind which the parkdean staff cleared after 3 days. On walking our dog he sharply lifted his rear paw and I found a tent peg. There was no injury thank god but on further inspection found another 10 pegs which I pulled out saving any further injuries to children, pets or car tyres..
The toilet block was awful.
1. The urinal stank. Especially in hot weather. As a former maintenance manager in my opinion this is due to inadequate flushing as a result of the water saving device fitted to the cistern not providing enough flushes which has now proved it necessary for a professional descale and clean.
2. Relating to the above the end cubicle was overflowing continuously into the toilet bowl. I pointed this out to the cleaner as it was wasting more water than the urinal would if flushing normally. This was not repaired.
3. On the subject of cleaning you would benefit from a signed daily schedule sheet being hung in view as the cleaning was not regularly carried out and if it was there was the same piece of soggy toilet paper on the floor of one of the cubicles for 5 days until I removed it . You could tell the cleaning was not sufficient and as such I felt the area was unhygienic.
4. The end shower cubicle door was badly warped and hanging off its hinges for the duration of our stay.
This too was mentioned to the cleaner who said he had reported it to maintenance.
5. The shower cubicles are a design disaster. The door opens over the tray which makes entering and exiting laughable regarding outside footwear. This is why the trays have dirty footprints. There are two hooks and no shelves. Space is at a minimum and it would be benificial if the site manager used a shower to see the difficulties.
6. The basins are too small for a morning shave and wash with no hooks or shelves to place dry equipment.
7. My wife was also not impressed with the condition of the ladies facilities reporting that it smelt damp and unhygienic.

The site generally needs more drinking water supply taps.

Other campers I spoke to said it was the worst Parkdean campsite they had been to and a couple left early as indeed did we. We also noted a lot of people found the 10.00 am leaving time unachievable, especially with children involved.
As a result we will not book a Parkdean campsite again.

Liked Not a lot!!

Disliked If you want to be dive bombed with footballs and the like with hordes of noisy children, then this is the place. If I had known what the site was about I would not have gone. The site also is in desperate need of a revamp.
Anyway, if you don't mind poor facilities where the kids can have a wonderful time, then this is where you will have a good time.
I do think more information from Pitch Up would do them more good than harm.I'm not being a grumpy old git, just telling it as it is.

Local attractions

The beach at Withernsea is only a five-minute walk from the park, and has miles of clean golden sands. Withernsea itself is a small and friendly resort with a lovely prom, open air theatre and a rare inland lighthouse, which now houses a museum. To the south of the town is Spurn Point, a nature reserve where visitors can spot seals, migrating birds and many unusual plants on the long, narrow spit of shingle. There’s more to see and do around and about: a massive nuclear bunker to explore at RAF Holmpton, a 500-year-old Napoleonic fort at Fort Paull, and thrills and spills aplenty at the nearby Pleasure Island Theme Park and The Deep Aquarium in Hull. Shopaholics should also make time to hornpipe down to Hornsea, where they’ll dance with glee at the bargains to be had in the designer outlet village.
