  • Family-run coastal park in Mappleton, with sea views
  • A five-minute drive to Hornsea; 25 minutes to Hull
  • Beach three minutes' walk away; dog park on site
If you’re setting off to East Yorkshire in search of sea views… well, you’ve found them at Sea View Country Park. This site is just on the edge of the ancient hamlet of Mappleton, about five minutes’ drive south of Hornsea, and has views out over the North Sea coast. That location makes this family-run site a great spot for a bit of seaside relaxation – and there’s a beach about three minutes’ walk away too for those who’d like to get even closer. There's a car park by the beach and a concrete ramp leads down to the sands, so it’s accessible for less-mobile guests. Just past the beach entrance (about five minutes’ walk from the site) is a tea room serving home-cooked meals along with takeaway sandwiches for a picnic on the sands. As well as the beach just by the site, it’s not far to Hornsea, which has another lovely beach plus plenty of places to shop and eat (including an award-winning fish and chip shop). Elsewhere along the coast, you may like to visit other seaside towns like Bridlington, or look out for passing birds at RSPB Bempton Cliffs. Or, if you’re feeling particularly energetic, pick up the Pennine Trail which will take you all the way over west to the Irish Sea. Dogs and kids are welcome at this park, where facilities have been kept to the essentials to preserve a peaceful atmosphere. All of the spacious pitches have water and electrical connections, and there are modern shower and toilet blocks with baby changing facilities and disabled access. There is also a dog park where canines can let off steam.

Local attractions

Start by heading up to Hornsea (five minutes’ drive) for a visit to the Hornsea Folk Museum, which has a Victorian farm kitchen, a dairy and a blacksmith’s shop, plus regular craft demonstrations (pottery, lace making and spinning among them). After that, you might like to take the kids to feed sheep and horses at the town’s Honeysuckle Farm or check out the creepy-crawlies at Bugtopia Hornsea Zoo. Or maybe it’s time for a peaceful picnic at Hornsea Mere, a popular spot for birdwatching, fishing and sailing. For a change of scenery, take a trip to Hull (25 minutes) to see all sorts of vintage transport displays at the free Streetlife Museum, where you can also ride an old tram through a reconstructed historic street, or learn about underwater life at The Deep aquarium. Burton Constable Hall & Grounds (15 minutes) is another nearby place that’s worth a visit for a stroll through Capability Brown-designed parkland, a tour of the art-filled house and a peek into the Cabinet of Curiosities.

What customers say

Awesome new park, spotless with big, flat spots. Staff are super friendly and helpful. Beach nearby is gorgeous and dog-friendly, views are unreal. Mostly quiet, though a bit of road noise. Great facilities and vibe make it a top spot for a chill holiday.

Fully-serviced concrete slab caravan site

Liked Very clean site with excellent facilities
Dog field a fantastic addition

Disliked Its a shame that you cannot access the beach from opposite the camp and its a 10 min walk along a busy road
Pub is a long walk and there is nothing else much nearby within walking distance
Lack of staff on site, when we arrived no one was there, I had to ring the number left for DHL deliveries, was given code to enter and told to find a pitch and given the code for exiting, we did not see any staff at all during our stay and had to ask other campers for advise

Fully-serviced gravel caravan site

Liked Clean, level site. Spotless loos. Friendly staff

Disliked A bit like a car park. Could do with some shrubs between pitches. Not a 6min walk to the beach as was told at reception. More like 10 to 15 mins (but I may be a slow walker)

Fully-serviced gravel caravan site

Liked We liked everything about this site.

On arrival were were greeted (sorry I didn’t get your name) and offered a choice of pitches, one had a sea view without obstruction.

The site was immaculately clean and tidy with very spacious pitches and nice touches such as the positive affirmations in the bathrooms.

The facilities were spotlessly clean and the constant showers were a very welcome change to the push button ones that you commonly come across.

The views were amazing, we were offered the first pitch near the entrance barrier which meant nothing could obstruct our sea view. It was amazing to wake up and see it each morning.

The dog park was a god send. Our 2 dogs love some play time off lead chasing the ball etc and it was a fantastic touch that there was an actual basket of dog toys provided, which, might I add were replenished throughout our stay!!

Mappleton beach was about a 10-15 minute walk away which was lovely too, very clean and not busy either, which meant our dogs could have some free reign too. There is a lovely little shop and cafe called the Old Post Office which sells cakes, meals and ice from Mr Moos too.

Everyone on the site that we came across was friendly and chatty and they made you feel welcome.

We would recommend this site if you’re thinking of visiting Hornsea or Mappleton.

It is real value for money and so peaceful and quiet.

There is also a large Tesco which was 6 mins drive away and has a petrol station. We also had fish and chips from Whiteheads which was a 5 minute drive away and they were delicious!

We will certainly be back for another stay! Thanks again for a very pleasant visit.

Disliked Nothing at all only that we had to come home 😭

Fully-serviced gravel caravan site

Liked Arrived at the site, everything looked new and neat, immaculately landscaped. We were let in through the security barrier and shown to our pitch. Unfortunately, our neighbours had parked their caravan the wrong way round and pinched our patch of grass! Straightaway, the site owner found us another pitch which was perfect.

On site, the toilet and shower facilities are very clean and inviting. Proper showers with a rainfall head and no annoying push button! There is a little cabin with a laundrette and a collection of games and dvds which can be borrowed. The whole site is well lit without being 'floodlit' so you don't need a torch to find the loo in the dark!

We travel with our little dog and were delighted to find there is a secure doggy park on site, complete with toys and activities.

The site location is very good, right by the beach, wonderful to hear the waves crashing in the near distance. Good access for walks, a little coffee shop nearby, people selling fresh eggs from their premises.

The village location is lovely and peaceful, the site welcomes families but there is no entertainment or noisy playground to disturb the peace (sorry kids!)

Disliked Only very minor issues, more a matter of personal taste.
1.The main road is a 60mph limit has a very narrow footpath - you feel a bit like you are dicing with death as traffic hurtles past your ears!
2. The site would really benefit from a little shop. We do travel well stocked but it's always nice to be able to pick up a few essentials and it's quite a way to the nearest store.
