  • Dog-friendly rural pop-up site between Durham and the coast
  • A 15-minute drive from Durham; 20 minutes from Hartlepool and Seaham
  • Shops, takeaways, café and pub within walking distance; walks nearby
Can’t quite decide between the buzz of Durham’s city centre and the fresh salt air of the coast? Thankfully, you won’t have to rule out either from Thornley Hall. This pop-up site is in a rather scenic area of the Co. Durham countryside between the two - specifically, 15 minutes’ drive away from Durham and 20 minutes from Hartlepool and Seaham, where beaches are on the cards. Those of you who can’t bear to part with your dog when you go on your hols may be happy to find that those of the furry kind are welcome on the site. You (and whichever companion you choose to bring – whether dog, partner or family) will set down in a field with the convenience of a proper toilet and shower 200 metres away from the pitches. As this is the countryside, you’ll also have plenty of scenic walks to hand. You won’t need to rely too much on a vehicle for things like eating out or grabbing your supplies either, as the site is a 25-minute walk away from two villages, Thornley and Wheatley Hill, where there are small food shops and spots to tend to your belly, including pizza places, takeaways and a café. Those of you who are keen to spend a fair amount of time sampling the local food and potions may also be happy to hear there’s a pub in the opposite direction 35 minutes’ walk away (and more pubs within five minutes’ drive of the site).
