What customers say
A top spot for a quiet, "back to basics" nature escape. Friendly hosts, good vibes, and basic but clean facilities. Choose your pitch from woodland to orchard, with fire pits. Bumpy track noted, but guests love it and want to return.

TLDR Best Campsite I've ever been to.
Unpowered grass and earth tent site
Liked Absolutely fantastic campsite. The owners are incredibly welcoming — I had a lovely chat with them on a couple of occasions and they really make you feel at home. There’s loads of space, whether you prefer a big open field or something a bit more sheltered like the orchard area (which I’d highly recommend).
The whole site has a great atmosphere, and everyone there was friendly. The facilities are well maintained and fully stocked, and honestly, this might be one of the best campsites I’ve ever stayed at. It’s also very close to Durham, which is really handy for food shops and anything else you might need.
Will definitely be back.
Disliked Nothing.

Unpowered grass and earth tent site
Liked * Peaceful, relaxing campsite in a lovely natural setting.
* Stayed in the Walnut Orchard, which had plenty of space to pitch without feeling crowded.
* Fire pits dotted around the orchard, plus benches and a hammock.
* Basic compost toilets and a sink close to the orchard, with proper toilets and hot showers just a few minutes’ walk away in the main field.
* Site was clean and free from litter throughout.
* Friendly, welcoming host who was quick to respond to any questions.
* Firewood available on site at a reasonable price.
* Great location with beautiful walks straight from the campsite.
* Durham city and the coast are both around a 20-minute drive away.
* Quiet atmosphere and not overly busy during our stay.
* We’d happily stay here again.

Unpowered grass and earth tent site
Liked Amazing campsite, lovely location with a local butcher nearby and a take away that not only tastes great but delivers to your tent door! Matt was a lovely guy, very friendly and helpful. It was more like hanging out at a friend’s than the slightly awkward feel of a normal campsite. Would definitely come again!

Unpowered grass and earth tent site
Liked Very friendly and welcoming hosts. A very clean and well kept, natural campsite that allows for a more wild type camp if desired.
The woodland section was brilliant and more private, allowing a 5 person tent with a good amount of space for relaxing outside of the tent.
Amenities were very clean.
